Concert cancelled - how to get a refund for concert tickets

My partner bought concert tickets for both of us before the pandemic broke out. The concert was to take place in March 2020. Then it was postponed several times (not cancelled) and the organizers, obviously, didn't offer any refunds. Eventually, it was cancelled in April this year (so about a year after it was originally scheduled). We are struggling to get tickets refunded (still). The concert organizers told us that the concert is cancelled and we need to get refund from Eventbrite. Eventbrite claims that according to their records the concert is not/has not been cancelled. We are thinking about approaching the bank which issued the card used for payment.

Is this the best way? Or would it be better to go via resolver tool first?

    A chargeback will fail as it is over 120 days past the date the event was due to take place, in fact, it's even 120 day past the date the event was cancelled.

    I suspect that as this went through Eventbrite the DCS chain is broken and if a CC was used the S75 claim would also fail.

    It was a debit card, to make it clear.

    Then you're out of time for a chargeback I'm afraid.

    Sorry but you are slightly wrong.
    Yes a chargeback has a 120 day timescale. But for future dated events, that is 120 days from the date of the event. So long as the original purchase was made within 540 days.

    But OP will have to provide proof it has been cancelled & expect Eventbright to contest as they seem to think it is still going ahead at some point.

    Thanks. It appears Eventbrite don't use/subscribe to Resolver and has very strict refund policy. Is it right that the first point of call would be the bank then? We have a number of emails from Eventbrite stating the concert hasn't been cancelled and an email from organizers stating that it was.

    The problem is the 120 day rule. I'm not sure why born_again even mentioned having proof it was cancelled, it's not relevant if you're outside the 120 day time period from the event being scheduled.

    When in April was the event cancelled?

    I think it was around April the 20th. We can't but try to recover the funds.

    @ItsComingRome.
    Apologies. I missed the date of the event being cancelled.
    But might just scrape in as you have asked for the date. 👍 So long as it's after 20 April as OP has stated as that is today. Need to allow bank a few day to get process started.

    As to resolver. They are only a 3rd party and have no power to do anything.
