'Missing' electricity account

I set up a 'dual fuel' account with Ebico in Sept 2020, As the property was empty, it was a nil standing charge account. British Gas took over in Nov 2020, offering the same nsc terms.
I have now received information (from the EOS), that at some point the electricity account was quietly moved from BG to Eon, presumably by BG. I have received nothing from Eon. Certainly the BG account page now shows only gas.
How could this happen? Do the major energy companies quietly move accounts around amongst themselves?

Goodness, you had problems with the gas account and now the electricity account. It sounds like a nightmare.0

I have to admit that it does appear to be a catalogue of chaos...

have you not been looking at your bills? Surely not receiving any bills (whether its online or post) should ring alarm bells.
Theres no way british gas would have just moved you to eon. Either someone has given your address details to eon and a switch has initiated (rightly or wrongly), or there was some sort of mix up. So this is termed an "erroneous transfer"
Theres no way they "move it around amongst themselves"
How come you've gone straight to the ombudsman when you could have checked who supplies your electricity by just contacting your DNO.
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/finding-your-energy-supplier-or-network-operator
just recheck it to ensure it is actually eon. You'll then need to contact british gas, claim it is an "erroneous transfer" and let them sort it out.
are you sure it wasn't moved from british gas to british gas evolve?
Again, like your last thread there's too little information to help you really. I don't know what answers you are expecting from a forum when you are inclined to give tidbits of information!
When was your last bill from ebico/british gas?
When did you last give a meter reading (or when was the last smart meter reading)
Were you paying by direct debit? did it stop? Were you paying on receipt of bill
I know it was a zero standing charge tariff and property was empty, was there zero usage, or just a few kwh. how were you paying? when did you last pay?0 -
Just checked the record for this property on the BG websiteIn spite of the property being unoccupied and the gas turned off, between 24/02/21 and 24/05/2021 the consumption is listed as an incredible 1113475 kWhYou couldn't make it up...0
-
Is that the estimated annual consumption figure or is it from the meter reads you have been providing ?
So in May you were with BG ? but now with Eon ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Nicktheguru: I understand your frustration, I'll see what I can do...
Robin9: that is the computed consumption for this empty property over a 3 month period, The staggering figure seems to be the result of a Morrisons? over-read on 24/02/2021.

I don't the hand held readers can handle that number of digits - but one of the meter readers on the Forum could comment.
What is your reading (in m3 please - I don't do the conversion to kWh as I let the suppliers computer do that) ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Why are you only checking the "record for the property" on the website now?
When did you give meter reads?
Why is a meter reader having to visit the property....surely you've been supplying regular accurate meter reads?
We know from the other thread you were providing the wrong gas reads (in incorrect units)
Sounds like a catalogue of errors from both supplier and customer.
You have just logged onto the BG website to look at your estimated annual consumption, or an estimation of 3 month use....but you didn't have time to look at the last bill and post that more useful information?
Have you checked the ofgem website i linked above to go to your dno website and check who your provider actually is?0 -
Here you are nik
From the British Gas website, this is a record of gas consumption (the electricity account has disappeared)

The reading of 1113475 is a hexadecimal smart meter error which has been appearing on many online accounts (across many suppliers including my own from time-to-time). It is absolutely meaningless as far as billing is concerned. You will be billed on the index readings (converted into kWhs in the standard way) not consumption in the RH table.0
