I need confidential advice - is this forum completely confidential? Can my name, email or anything else be seen by anyone or everyone?

People can only see what you choose to post, hence MSE advice not to post personal details on the forum. Don't use use any real names or locations, and you could also use the pronoun 'they' instead of he/she.

Your registered email address can only be seen by MSE staff (and by you when you look at your own profile) but not by other forum users or the public.

Your username ('Magnolian') is public, as is the content of any message you post on the forum.

As Misslayed said, you should not post any names or identifying details on the forum, as per our rules.

Magnolian, you are anonymous on here unless you post information which can identify you either directly or indirectly.  For example, if you said you work in x city at a company with y employees and a particular unique situation has arisen, they is a slim chance you would be identifiable.  Otherwise you should be fine.

I would also suggest not entering into private messaging. Keeping your issues on an open thread will permit checks and balances that may otherwise not be available to you and the correction of erroneous information.

No, not that i'm aware. MSE will only see your email address. Any other information you post here will be see by everyone, including those that aren't members because it's an open forum.

Regardless if you post or not, you used your email address to sign up, it’s available to them anyway.

Posting on an open public forum is probably not the best place to divulge a highly confidential issue anyway.

Might help if they were to say why they’re back here rather than contacting the signposted organisations?

You would then need to start masking your IP address etc.

Op, just put your question unless you think it's going to attract the attention of MI5, in which case you've got bigger problems to deal with.
