Glad to hear your Dad has improved.
I find a good old fashioned hot water bottle on the lap gives great MSE boost to overall warmth where blankets and layers aren't quite enough.
Good your DDs car is back starting reliably again.8 -
Happy New Year CCL.
Etsy could be a good place to start? Search for what you would sell and compare size, quality, price etc. to see if it would be worth considering.11 -
I agree about the hot water bottle. To be honest I am known for it, sit on one all the time. To such an extent that we had agreed no presents between family (except to DS that I live with). But just before Xmas I got a present from my friends DIL - a very long hot water bottle. She had been shopping & saw it & immediately thought of me & couldn't help herself. My response - Oh no you know me too well. I must say though that I like the silicon ones as they don't smell when you put hot water in them.

Make sure your dad has thermal underwear including long Johns. My DH, who is also very slim and in his 70's wears them most of the year plus wool jumpers rather than acrylic or similar in the colder weather. We also each have a blanket for when we are sitting watching TV or similar. In addition I have a small dog who sits on my knee under the blanket (her choice) - makes it very cosy but makes a lot of noise and costs a fortune in insurance at 15 years old so not necessarily a reccomendation.9

I definitely endorse the idea ilof selling your blankets only let us know when you're ready to sell so your fans could look at the pictures. I'd also suggest Ebay too.
Have you got a friend who would sell for you?9 -

Is it only Monday? I could actually cry...
It kind of started at 3am when ds came into my room very tearful telling me that he was tired but just couldn't get to sleep. I felt really worn having him sleeping in with me, but he got some sleep at least - I didn't feel well rested at all by half past six.
Decided to make a latte at home to take into work - spilt a pint of milk all over the microwave and the kitchen tops. Made me late leaving the house (but I remembered my packed lunch and the latte version 2).
Got to school a bit later than I would have liked to, and then had to review Y11 homework. Almost half of the year group had not even attempted it. It was bad before the pandemic but unfortunately there's a severe lack of motivation and effort from a significant number of students. I find it really annoying but there's only so much I can do.
Burnt my finger in front of my Year 9 class - demonstrating a 'don't do this because it will hurt' thing. Just got a bit too close and ended up with my hand under the tap for 20 minutes and feeling like a prat. And it really did hurt. Still does.
Then had to deal with a safeguarding incident right at the end of the day, which kept me for a long time after school and has left me feeling very drained indeed. And it's only Monday. I am supposed to be relaxing and taking more time for myself - that's not working out so well so far now that work is back in the picture. And I suppose I've had 2 years of interrupted teaching as well so not exactly used to all of this pressure any more.
Got home and put the recycling out, washed the dishes and put a load of washing in. Got my lunch out of the freezer for tomorrow and I'm going to put some slow cooker porridge on overnight. I'm absolutely freezing and I want to get started on crochet because I'll be warm under another half finished blanket. I finished the first squares one last night (there is another squares in the loft) and I'm feeling ready to tackle another 'crochet I thought would be fun but isn't after a while' project.
Thank you all for your kind words and advice for my dad - I unbelievably hadn't even thought of a hot water bottle for him. I am keeping a close eye on him though.
Not giving up

Time to take back control

Delurking to say have a look at Heat Holders socks for your dad, I have a few pairs & they are so toasty!
How about looking to see if there are any local craft fairs you could take a stall at to sell your blankets? I go to aa few Craft Fairs and have never seen anything like that at any of them, it’s so nice to find something different!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j12 -
