Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 5 - Trying to recover from the pandemic

Thanks TallGirl, badmemory and Jellytotts.
You sound like you got the kick up the backside that I need. Not that I want my gall bladder to pack up - I saw that happen to someone at work and it looked like the worst agony I've ever seen, and I've done childbirth twice as well... I am hoping that the fear of needing a gastric bypass will scare me into getting something done. Not sure it will - because it's still just a distant threat at the moment and there are more pressing things needing my attention at the moment. But I will keep trying as I always do. I know I need to put myself at the top of my priority list but that's just the first thing that goes when life gets in the way - as it blimming keeps doing at the moment.
And COVID - just !!!!!!.Not giving up

I'm a lurker but please there are options to gastric bypass. There really are. Lots. Rarely disclose my profession on here because sometimes I eat a lot of junk and drink too much prosecco but professionally I know what I am on about!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!12 -
Thanks Watty1. My dream solution would be a medicine I could take that would just stop me feeling so hungry all of the time. Why don't those things seem to exist because that is definitely what I need.
So here I am on here again for the third day in a row. Determined for the moment and making time for myself to do the things I need to do for me.
I slept terribly last night. Woke up just before 4am and I couldn't get back to sleep but couldn't be bothered to get up. I just kind of lay in bed and I watched a whole series (just 3 episodes) of Strike on iPlayer. I am really enjoying it and will watch more. Dragged myself up just before 8am as the cats were determined that I was going to feed them / let them out. One of the cats that we affectionately nickname p*$$y Kev was starting to give me the signs that I might need to wash my doormat if I didn't move soon. So I got up, washed up, fed cats, sorted the trays, let them out for a bit then sat down with a much needed cuppa. Bestie rang and asked if I wanted to go to Funelm with her as she wants new curtains. I said no, but then she insisted that I needed to get out and about, get some fresh air and help her choose. I reminded her again that I have never, ever bought my own curtains - they've all been either bought or handed down by my mam and I'm nowhere near as picky as bestie is about whether things match. But I decided to tag along on the promise that it would be the only shop that we went to. I looked at lots of things, but didn't buy anything. Bestie spent £50 and didn't buy any curtains, but got a quote of over £400 for the made to measure curtains and blinds she wants (which is just for 1 living room window) - I almost fainted.
Got home and tidied and cleaned the kitchen while dd did the bathroom. Then the kids decided that today rather than tomorrow would be better for grocery shopping. So off we went to Aldeeee for the basics and Mr S for the snobby stuff. I stuck to the list and was so pleased to have something for tea that wasn't made out of Christmas dinner leftovers - I'm done with that now. The rest of those leftovers have gone into the freezer to be used across January.
Finally sat down at just after 4pm. I still have some very urgent work to do but am far too tired to get anywhere with it today - so I've crocheted and caught up on World's Strongest Man. I'm planning on getting into bed in about 10 minutes and hoping for a better night so I can do a full day of academic work tomorrow. Bestie is working, dd has a shift and I'm hoping that ds has a massive lie in because he can really be a pain in the bum during school hols.
Right - I'm off. Night all.Not giving up

Strike is a great series. Just thought I would mention a new Harlan Coben series starts on N*tf**x today and it has British and Irish actors in it so not a dubbed international adaptation which the recent ones have been. It’s from the Stay Close novel if you have read it. Wishing everyone all the best for 2022. I am not a New Year’s Eve person so likely to be tucked up well before midnight9

Enjoying WSM along with you ccl! I already know who wins it, but I'm still enjoying the build up.

Thanks for the recommendation TDQ - I have watched the other Harlen Coben series and read a few of his books years ago so I'll be up for that and will put it on my list. I've watched no tv at all today because for once, and rather unusually, I managed to get a full day of work done. It's not finished. Not even half way, but I've made a good start on it and therefore I feel a bit less stressed than I have done all holiday. Instantly noticeable in my blood pressure which has gone down from about 150/100 to 128/75. Happy Days. I knew that I was stressing myself out a bit. Still need to keep doing daily blood pressure for the doc but I hope the drop today isn't just a one off.
Anyway, in between work I've done a load of washing (towels), put the rubbish and recycling out and cooked the gammon joint ready for a nice NY meal tomorrow (with roasties and coleslaw). I had 2 contracts that needed to be completed urgently - one is done and I have made good progress on the other one as already mentioned. Now that I've started I think that I'll just work through the weekend. If I do that then I'm likely to have another couple of days of relaxation available before I have to go back to work on Wednesday.
Nothing else to report - nsd as I've done nothing except sitting on my bum and work. I'm going to pack up for the day and have a couple of drinks. DD has her boyfriend coming round and I fully expect that they and ds will be up long past midnight although I suspect I'll be in bed by 10. We shall see.
Hope that you all have a fantastic evening, whatever you're up to. Stay safe and remember it's the people that make life what it is. I'm going to be working very hard on putting myself higher on my priority list next year. And please let 2022 be the year we finally get back to normal.
Happy New Year all!Not giving up

Oooh Apple - I know who wins WSM too but doesn't put me off watching. I love it! DD says it gives her the 'ick' but I think it's brilliant. Apart from when that young lad popped his bicep the other day - I was almost physically sick when I saw that.
