T-shirt inappropriate for work?

Ah! That was the thread that started off with grieving that he wouldn't be able to see his "sexy tutor" again.Jillanddy said:https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4880060/my-tshirt-at-job-centre-appointments/p1
He must have a shed load of T-shirts

I'm just amazed that the slogan on the t-shirt is still legible after all these years, being worn pretty much daily and (hopefully) going through the wash several times per week.

The OP clearly has a problem with understanding what is appropriate. Hopefully they didn't tell the tutor they thought they were sexy. That could certainly be interpreted as harrassment i.e. inappropriate behaviour.

And you really don't think youstill need to wear appropriate clothing even if your hired by the agency.
You strike me as someone who is not mature at all. Leave any slogan tshirts for outside of work. Wear plain t shirts.
Doesn't matter if your gay, straight or bi wearing the attire that is set out by place that required you will allow the agency to stay on good terms with the business but also allows you to stay on good terms with the agency. If you do this regularly and kick up a fuss it could affect who hires the agency but also it could also affect other people who are agency workers as they may not be able to work in that buisness again due to the tarnished view of the agency.
Just think of the wider affect before you start kicking off and also wear the appropriate clothing.Mortgage free wannabe

Update: I wore my gay t-shirt yesterday on my last day as the cleaner who told me to remove it and passed me a plain t-shirt. she wasn't in yesterday, thank god. All other cleaners don't mind my t-shirt, it was just her!0

Well you seem determined to poke the employment bear with a stick, to see if it will bite.
One day it might just take your arm off!!
If you're determined to "push back" against any rules, then be prepared to be unemployed. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)7 -
You should get a new t-shirt that says 'Nobody cares that I'm gay except me."Jack_bauer24 said:Update: I wore my gay t-shirt yesterday on my last day as the cleaner who told me to remove it and passed me a plain t-shirt. she wasn't in yesterday, thank god. It is often really hard to find people who really deserve to be dismissed. Most people have enough self-respect and grit to actually want to be in employment. And have enough respect for others not to shove their tacky t-shirt opinions down the throat of other people who want to work without being patronised. If you want a political debate, join a party or a campaign group. You are not the only person with rights, and whether she likes you, your opinions or your t-shirt is irrelevant - you have no right to act like a three year old in work, and it will come back to bite you. If any of this is, of course, true. Because it seems this isn't the first time this thread is on here. Just rewrite it a bit and stir. Perhaps your time might be better spent reflecting on why you don't have employment. There are more than a few hints here to assist you in that.Jack_bauer24 said:Update: I wore my gay t-shirt yesterday on my last day as the cleaner who told me to remove it and passed me a plain t-shirt. she wasn't in yesterday, thank god. @Jack_bauer24 you’re right that some random employee who isn’t your supervisor can’t tell you what to wear or what not wear. The best response is to politely point this out.
However, anything that distracts others from getting on with their work won’t be favoured by an employer and the person who interfered probably did so for that reason. Equally frowned on would be a football shirt in the ‘wrong’ town or a see-through or overly-skimpy t-shirt.
‘Business wear’ isn’t appropriate for cleaning (or stripping down engines, or driving an ambulance!) by the way.
