I am not provoking a response, I just want to wear it. I shouldn't get told what I can or can't wear when I am not employed by them, it's that simple.Jillanddy said:I am just annoyed that I can't wear my gay slogan t-shirt
That sounds very much like the T-shirt was worn to provoke a response. Would you be so annoyed if the company policy was that you cannot wear blue?
Regardless of what the job or the "rules" I think it is inappropriate to be parading your personal opinions on a T-shirt at work. Whatever they are.
Your representing your employer (The Agency) who they have contracted to provide your services and they are indirectly paying your wages. It's not very professional wearing any kind of T-Shirt with a random slogan or logo on it not matter what it is. The fact that you are not employed by them should make you want to act even more professionally so you are more likely to get work with them again in the future.
Also using that logic they can't tell you what to wear as they don't employee you then you must have just turned up and started cleaning wherever you feel like in whatever way you wanted too because they couldn't possibly give you any instructions as they aren't your employer...2 -

Well I'm afraid that does sort of confirm that you are doing it to be provocative and, what is probably worse:Jack_bauer24 said:

... you appear to be being wilfully disingenuous about it. There is no other reason at all why you would wear a T-shirt with a particular statement on it, as opposed to a simple plain T-shirt, unless you wanted to deliberately make that statement and see how people reacted..
You should not wear ANY clothing at work that has ANY sort of statement on it - unless you work for Bloggs Manufacturing and the company supplied clothing says "Bloggs makes it better!"
If you can't see that you may find that you have some difficulty moving forward in any career...9 -
I think the poster may be gay_guy who had posting rights removed way back (eg see Could my Jobseekers be sanctioned? — MoneySavingExpert Forum)8

The moment when 'ah that explains a lot' just doesn't cut it! Creating a thread about making a statement did seem quite statementy in it's own right, and the concepts were so simple it did raise an eyebrow - but benefits of doubt were given.
Probably one for the 'problems exceed the scope of our capabilities' bin1 -
Wow that is an impressive feat of memory.General_Grant said:I think the poster may be gay_guy who had posting rights removed way back (eg see Could my Jobseekers be sanctioned? — MoneySavingExpert Forum)5 -
Snap - that was my first thought as well - the scenario was very familiar. I had a feeling even the slogan was the same.General_Grant said:I think the poster may be gay_guy who had posting rights removed way back (eg see Could my Jobseekers be sanctioned? — MoneySavingExpert Forum)
And if I recall correctly, the thread linked to wasn't the first instance either. There was a bit of an ongoing t-shirt saga. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.6 -

With a history as shown through the threads, the T-shirt not only wasn't suitable for work, it was inaccurate - everyone who knows the OP must know they are gay.Jack_bauer24 said:I wore this gay slogan t-shirt (Nobody Knows I'm Gay)3 -
You remind me of the story of a friend. I live in a fairly small village - well, outside the village in fact. Him and his dad moved in about seven years ago. About three weeks ago, after knowing them for years, he confided in my that actually his dad was his partner and they'd never told anyone because they know how backward small villages are. I am still trying to figure out how to tell him that it's possible the blind housebound lady at 92 doesn't know they are actually a gay couple....Mojisola said:
