Littlewoods lost my parcel

I ordered cloths from two retailers. Mainline and Littlewoods.

I had returns to both companies but i sent the wrong parcel back to each retailer. Mainline sent back the parcel intended for Littlewoods but my parcel i sent to Littlewoods hasnt been returned. Both were sent 48hr tracked.

Littlewoods recieved the parcel on the 2nd of July.

At first they said it was rejected, so i phoned Royal Mail and they said it was definatly excepted and any rejection would have created scanning infomation and i havnt recieved it back.

Then Littlewoods told me it was a Mainline issue so i rang them and they said because it had a Littlewoods label on the parcel they should go through their missing parcel process.

Ive rang Littlewoods atleast 10 times to try and track down my parcel for return or to claim the value but theyve said they cant contact the warehouse as they dont have any contact details which i find unbelieveable.

Ive written a letter to the office at "Customer Excellence, Sandringham House, Sandringham Avenue, Chelmsford, CM92 1LH" with proof of postage and emails from Mainline backing up the value and weight of my parcel and no reply.

Has anyone got any advice as im unsure what to do next.

I'm not sure what more you can do.  From Littlewoods' point of view, you sent them something, I suspect they did reject it (because it wasn't meant for them) so it perhaps was received, then probably turned around and put back in the postal system.  I can't see how Littlewoods owe you anything.

Did you put your return address on the parcel?
  • it was a printed postal label with my return address on it.  I rang the citizens advice bureau and they said regardless if the parcel was sent to them in error they had a duty of care for the parcel and there was a return adress on it.  It hasnt left the depot since it was recieved on the 2nd of July.

Letter Before Action, usually a threat to take them to small claims court.  What's the value of the parcel?

Its £508.  I was thinking of the small claims court but im going away for 5 months with work in October.
  • I honestly think this is one of those times you'll need to just write it off - you made the mistake and if you can't take them to court for whatever reason then you're out of options really.
  • Ive had a reply back from littlewoods and they said they rejected it.  Ive rang royal mail today to see if theres any tracking infomation and they said there would be if it was rejected.  Ive asked Littlewoods for traking infomation and proof of postage.

Depending on their answer im thinking of going to the small claims court as they cant prove they sent the parcel back to me.  If i lost my claim would i be hit with a large bill for fees on their side?

    This doesn't make sense.

It had their own returns label on so they would not have known that the incorrect stuff was inside until they opened it. They will get lots of post so don't just reject stuff.

They do have a duty of care with your items. Likewise when people get sent stuff in error they also have a duty of care to keep them safe until they can be collected.

Don't phone them. WRITE to them. Email will do. Tell them they have a duty of care for your items, they did NOT reject them, and they need to find them ASAP.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
