I feel PPH is a winner!

Having used up so many toiletries to empty the cupboards and save, one thing I came to realise was that there was no point in using up the untouched colours - they were untouched for a reason and I finally binned them (by then I had used up or repurposed so much that I felt no guilt).

Purchasing some new moisturiser to try or a new hair conditioner seems such a treat now I have such empty cupboards :)
I think the point was that PPH's are never a winner   :D or indeed PPH behaviour which seems like a virulent cold sore  that suddenly can strike people.
Note to self  when I start dating again - ask deep searching questions on what happened to their last relationships and DONT ignore the red PPH  flags

Well done you! I have some unworn gifted makeup things which are all super expensive so those are still loitering without intent. I am sure there used to be a place to gift such unopened stuff to charity

On the unused eye shadow shades I have got rid of all those in  colours I never use - black, greens, blues, purples etc, browns    however I do have a few palettes with varying shades of a colour  I do wear daily - now  down to 4 palettes  ...  so thats where I am focusing on the use up
I have used all the singular shades up now (good for handbags and travel)

It did feel like quite a luxury allowing myself to buy it (prompted to get to  the  £60 Mac free gift spend)

Will need to buy new hair conditioner next week  - I normally get it from Europe but last twice there I only had carry on  luggage so need to think what brand to buy that not too heavy on my hair.
Nearly at end of one body lotion, 2 more in waiting at least  - at least this 'use it up' is making me use the potions/lotions I have...  15 months into using my infrared face mask and helped I am sure by loads serums I am using up my skin is really glowing,  I do have some wrinkles but  my skin looks flawless (really liking this PSA no 3 serum/antioxidant I am using for the first time)
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • The @save_dog thread has inspired me to calculate my future daily interest

As I am thinking of borrowing between £300k -£350k I may try to keep mortgage  down as low as possible just to keep that daily interest figure start at something less scary ..  that eternal knife edge balance between a nicer /bigger place and money stress

If I borrow  at 3.79% - what MSE is suggesting on FTB rates today
£300k   £31.13 per day  interest  - over the calendar month £946.87  interest     on a £1918.20 per month payment
£350k   £36.318 per day   - over the calendar month 1104.67 interest     on a £2238 per month payment

Current 'maybe having to move'/instability  finally makes  my rent v house buying scale tip towards buying!
Maths still states  its still cheaper  to rent as I have safety of my large deposit (some of which is in the S&S isa so possible increase ) plus the interest I am getting (even with the tax on interest)
However if I buy  I get possible asset increase of the house plus SAFETY  of my own home of no landlord  able to give me rent increases/instability.

    ................... Courses..............
My Thursday course continues to be brilliant, and we are moving on to another software for database analysis next week. However we have been given a big homework project which is optional but will also provide a portfolio piece for us all to start getting work.

................... Work .............. Worked for three different clients today - they all needed 2 hours or so  each to move projects forward, and I managed to be uber efficient , get all done and go to evening class as well.

    ...................Health/Fitness success..............
I havent weighed myself in a few days and I am definitely not 100% adhering to my slow carb plan, however I did get on scales this morning  and weighing in at 60.4kg so 8.8lbs lower than when I started in Aug on the EMS workouts  twice a week  and my nutrition changes.

    ................... Practice..............
@debtfreewannabe321 The chant is Nam Myoho Renge Kyo - ... Its what Tina Turner famously chanted to give her the strength to leave Ike and she continued chanting til the very end of her life.  She also wrote a book 'Happiness Becomes You' on the Buddhist practise   (www.sgi-uk.org)

Changing poison into medicine, then, starts with the simple step of facing your problems with the confidence that you have the power within you not just to overcome challenges, but also to thrive because of them—to rise up to greater heights than you ever have before.

Amongst other benefits, it raises your life state, wisdom, courage and compassion (for oneself and others) on a daily basis to come from that higher Buddha self and overcome one's own negative tendencies.. so when the going gets tough. the tough chant harder ;)  whilst also taking massive action to change the situation and transform one's own inner self where needed, to overcome the fear to take action and have the wisdom and courage to take the right actions.  .. I have found it  invaluable in facing life head on  and chanting for the best outcome for all as world peace 'kosen rufu' is also central to the Buddhist philosophy  ...even the landlord Scrooges (who hopefully will gain wisdom and compassion also)
Either way in a building with lots of people feeling scared for their future  I need to be as positive and life forward as possible and help keep everyones spirits up to take action

Absolutely <3 the Buddist way as stated. Just realising I need chanting! Feeling quite at a scared crossroads too! Tina was my Queen. Def recommend the musical!

    That is so powerful.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Hi LadyWithAPlan

For me 'safety' was a huge part of getting back on the property ladder.  As someone who chose to go from owning a home to renting a few years ago I hadn't anticipated how psychologically unsafe I would feel.  We'd heard lots about repossessions in the 80s and so that was always in the back of my mind when we owned our own home.  I thought renting wouldn't be much different but your situation highlights how that just isn't the case.  I also found that some people the landlord used for repairs and servicing were quite disrespectful, which was very uncomfortable.  When you own, you decide who gets to come into your home and when, and that was invaluable to my peace of mind.

The other thing I hadn't thought about when we were repaying our mortgage the first time, which sounds ridiculous to me now, was the loan total coming down each month and consequently the daily/monthly interest we paid.  It was only when we returned to the property ladder a second time, that I can see the balance owed reducing and so is the daily interest we are paying.  These days you can see the daily balances online, but I could have worked it out back then on a spreadsheet if I'd been more savvy - what a doughnut I was.

Hope this helps a little, and very best of luck with your purchase.

ps. I've also just PM'd you some information you asked from a previous post.

I take all the stuff I have to the local Food Bank and they are always delighted to be able to add a little treat to the bags of women (it is mostly women my stuff is for) who need a little lift. I keep getting cosmetic freebies when I order from the tall footwear people; eye shadow palettes, skin care products, plus all the things other people buy me. My little pile this year includes Molten Brown, face masks, make-up and hair dyes, plus the 64 toilet rolls that will be delivered from big river that I always give

LaPlan I thought TT on here was universally Tilly Tidying but I am guessing the one you reference might begin Total and be similar to Twit? - also, just looked at @Sistergold's signature re mortgage - there is your inspiration, methinks!
