I recently saw an ad for phox water which is apparently a filter cartridge that works for life, don't know if it's any good but have bookmarked it for potential future use or gift as it would be good to reduce the environmental impact of them5

Just over on the grocery challenge where I have learnt loads I have had a response to my bean query ( @south_coast I find dried beans too gassy for me even when I change the soaking water 3 times.. So I am currently soaking red lentils - yes i know they dont need soaking but they still arent that digestible unlike the tinned ones (which I assume they sit in water in a can so the cell walls broken down)
I may have issues finding more room in my freezer though...

It breaks down the cell walls. It should also cut down the cooking time. I don’t bother defrosting the frozen beans; I just peal them out of the (recycled) bread bag in which I froze them, dump them into my pressure cooker, pour over boiling water from the kettle and pressure cook as normal. (NB: I always cook at least 500g of dried beans in a batch, freezing cooked beans in 450g-500g tubs, which is the equivalent of two tins. When I make a chilli, I’d normally use two tins-worth.)

@KajiKita thanks I have used it £46.11 inc postage for 12 months with my Brita maxtra jug .. so 88p a week vs £4.77 on 3 x £1.59 5 L from the shop. Lets just hope I like the water taste
I tried the freezing of uncooked soaked beans yesterday.. and today made a spectacular dal... Sauted in my pressure cooker garlic, ginger, onion with cumin seeds, chilli, coriander powder, turmeric, fenugreek and mustard seeds, hing then added in a tin of tomatoes, the frozen red lentils and some extra water and tomato puree, bit of salt and pepper. 15 mins in the pressure cooker and it has come out great and (10 hrs later) no digestion issues or excessive rumblings ....
If this works (lentils so didnt really need soaking) I will then see of switching to dried beans again (mung/urad) that I soak and the pre freeze helps with my stomach not appreciating the hardness of the fibre... I will pick up another bag of mung beans when near a specialist place.
Lovely sunny London today and I am focused... Saw a couple jobs I may apply for and also looking to flat hunt in 2 new areas (SE and SW) to see what market proces sare like and if I can deal with the travel in
Inspired by @WelshmansDaughter I have been watching Location, Loc, Loc.. and the compromise seems always to be there so good to see it playing out.
Saw a friend at the weekend and we thinking of doing a 2/3 day event in London next year, so looking at the plans etc and funding for that ... All speculative but there are some funds available we are hoping to get ...
Also saw a friend this eve at the first stages of divorce, the husband is calling all of her friends inc me and twisting stuff we say, we all trying to stay out of it .. i only took one call but thats enough.. Kids involved so its messy and of course he hasnt paid her any money since day he was kicked out (9am drinking sessions) and she/is was a SAHM.... its times like these when I really personally would find it impossible to be a sahm - the finances are too dependent on the other party, I need stability and knowing I have my own back.
Popped on way home to Waitrs*e to get some greens, picked up some pinto beans and a few other purchases..

Poor friend. I had a neighbour who has an ex a bit like that. One evening he rang me 39 times !! I had left my phone outside so I didn't hear it - when I saw it I imagined some emergency and rang back and he suggested it was a pocket dial !!!!!!?? As I know to my cost when a relationship goes south everything goes. I would only ever enter into anything with a written signed dated agreement setting out what would happen in the event of xxx. (I actually had one with the VNM whilst going through the crap giving him permission to remove my horses and explaining how their care would be funded in the event of anything happening to me - my accountant helped with that out of sympathy)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!6
