Merlin's_Beard said:This all sounds quite promising, from the Man with a Plan to the flats...!@beanielou tx ! This flat buying is hard
saw another flat yesterday but in my expensive area - one lovely bed - large patio - super central but £440 & service charge including water and sinking fund £206pm ! Plus Ct £106
I have got so used to having a second bedroom - I do need extra storage at least
so the flat I could love living in but unless I change my life it be too small - kitchen is small corner of the lounge
I’d love to stay where I am but I need a big one bed with a big kitchen or storage or garden to grow
on MIP broker says easy to extend after the one month as nothing will have changed
I looked at full paperwork they happy to offer me more as in £440k !!! Plus deposit so a £565/570k flat
but I would have to go back to full time contract work to pay for that
on the £395k flat with garden further out (but not that great a flat internally) I am wondering if I am looking too small - FTB but I could go up to 450k etc and get something better
so maybe I haven’t found the one so not put offer on itDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I don't chant but I have a vision board always on the go
so when I was looking for a house I put down everything I wanted and set about finding it. The house is perfect I found one just like on my vision board (which I used as visualisation in meditation)... I need to work on remembering to put down what I want in the surrounding area of the house next time, bit of a fail there

Just catching up. Like the sound of MwaP. Big fan of vision boards too @debtfreewannabe321 Mine is to the right of the computer I use for work.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Another category: Post redirection - not as important as yesteryear but I still get mail approx weekly and occasionally it’s important.
I also make a spreadsheet of everyone and everything needing a change of address and record the date I advised, date confirmation received etc6 -

Still doing the victory dance for you on the MIP! 💪🏾💃🏾🌺. It is good not to overstretch yourself ofcause when you finally buy BUT make sure you don’t squeeze too hard too. In a way one person can always fit into a small space once you put your mind to it. Over £2k mortgage does feel a lot! Once you find what you love you will know!Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Like the sound of the new man.
On the house / flat - greenery nearby would be a must for me. Also consider what level of ambient noise you can cope with. Cleanliness of the neighbourhood too. .Whether the area is smelly.
I think space is the ultimate luxury.
On the house move costs - just be aware with a house move comes home maintenance responsibility. This week alone I'm due to spend £9.2K on essentials home repairs... My survey meant it wasn't all a surprise - but the home owner wasn't willing to budget his price and argued he'd priced accordingly. That initial spend for me root, pointing, gutters, soffits and fascias - is only part of what's needed.... There's also the 'fripperies' and seeming essentials of decorative items that match your taste, light fittings etc. You may find your furniture doesn't fit and you want to change it etc... Definitely make sure you leave yourself some £ in the kitty post move for both any immediate repairs - and some guilt free £ to make it feel more your own.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
