You could also try pointing out to Amazon that until the goods are actually delivered "into your physical possession" (or words to that effect) that they remain the responsibility of Amazon. I don't think that leaving the goods outside your front door necessarily discharges that responsibility. (I'm not sure off the top of my head which section of which Act this is covered by, but it's a point often made by unholy_angel and also by the_lunatic_is_in_my_head. Perhaps Aylesbury_Duck or somebody else can remember where it is?)
[EDIT: I think it's s29 Consumer Rights Act 2015. So long as Amazon chose the courier, the OP is protected, aren't they? Consumer Rights Act 2015 (legislation.gov.uk) ]
Whether amazon would react negatively to having this pointed out to them (eg banning you) I don't know.
