Have you actually had a "ticket"? Was this a private car park or council space?

I can't see you have any grounds for appeal,. put it down to experience, I'm sure you won't forget next time.

Where did you park, on the street or in a private car park?
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • I parked on the street in Manchester it’s a Manchester City parking fine
  • You’ll probably just have to take this one on the chin.

You weren’t displaying a badge. I can’t see you have any valid defence.

I think my defences I was illegally parked there I am a holder of a blue badge I have brain fog due to my health condition surely this is not breaking the law

The rules of usage for a BB are clear. As harsh as it may sound If your disability doesn't prevent you from using a car then don't use it as an excuse for not following the rules when using your Blue Badge.

Not the first time where you think the rules don't apply to you https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6278151/bus-lane-contravention#latest
  • If it were me (I'm not advising you pay it but it could be more hassle than it's worth) I would just pay it and sharpish too, take advantage of any early payment discount. Nobody 'likes' to get a fine OR have to pay it but it happens. Be grateful it's a Local authority fine and not a private parking scamvoice. You broke the rules and whilst you say it was a genuine mistake it does not constitute a defence imo.

You could appeal it in the hope they take a 'goodwill gesture' standpoint but it's highly unlikely.

Post here, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/parking-tickets-fines-parking, although this is mainly private parking issues. So although you may get some help, they will probably advise you to post on http://forums.pepipoo.com/ who are the experts in Council parking tickets.

If you make an appeal at this point and its rejected, Manchester City Council will give you a further 14 days to pay at the reduced rate. So you have nothing to lose by appealing, besides the time it takes to write the appeal.

You don't seem to have any legal grounds to appeal as such, so you're basically appealing to the council's better nature. However I'm told that many councils will waive a parking ticket for forgetting to display your blue badge, provided it's not something that you make a habit of doing, and provided you were otherwise legally parked. Certainly the worst that can happen is that they say no.

Do the DVLA know you suffer from brain fog? Maybe they should be informed.
