Isn't there a threshold of a few hundred pounds aboove which a signature is required by eBay?  What is happening with that at the moment?  I assume that it must be suspended currently.

£450.  But it's still just A signature to prove someone (anyone) received it, not a specific, IDed signature.

Presumably the covid arrangements in place for each of the couriers counts as a signature for eBay purposes.

I will phone Fedex again on Monday to try and get an investigation opened but I am just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and if you had a positive outcome?
Don't call them, Tweet them. Ask them for help on Twitter and they will ask you to send them a direct message with the details.
This will escalate it more than you can get via telephone. https://twitter.com/FedExHelpEU
FedEx are a reputable company so don't want too much fuss.
If you haven't got a Twitter account it's worth opening one just to be able to reach customer service of major companies.

Thanks, RFW. Wish I had seen your post before I phoned them first thing this morning. I told them everything I have said on here and they have opened an investigation, which they say will take 36-48 hours. I also checked that the house number and street they say they had delivered to matched my address and they said 'yes'. I've updated the Ebay case with the reference number Fedex have given me for the investigation. Heard nothing further from the seller and I had asked the seller if they could check who authorised release of the parcel because on the 'proof' Fedex supplied it says "Signed For By: Signature release on file". According to Fedex's own glossary on their site this means either the account holder or the recipient has consented for their signature that is held on file with Fedex to be used to release the item. I know I didn't consent to that because I had no notification from Fedex to even expect a delivery or a delivery window, so I have asked the seller if he did and if not to ask Fedex about it

At least you got it flagged early. Hope it all ends well. Keep us posted!
  • Hi all, just a quick update. Got talking to someone yesterday evening who lives a few doors down from me about what had happened. She has 2 cctv cameras and one shows the mews. So I asked her to check her footage from Friday for me. You know what's coming... no sign of any Fedex van all day! The seller had not updated the case with Ebay by yesterday evening so I posted on the case about the footage and that I could provide it if necessary. Rang Fedex a couple of hours ago and the customer services agent told me he could see the seller had been in contact about the package this morning. The customer services agent has sent an email to the 'team' investigating mentioning the CCTV footage. Stay tuned...
  • I posted on the Ebay case last night and said if the seller could send me replacement chairs I would be happy to accept that as I really wanted the chairs (as opposed to a refund). This morning, the seller contacted me and said he too has opened an investigation with Fedex. He is sending me 4 more chairs, this time with DPD. I think perhaps having the cctv footage and posting on the case and letting FX know I had that has maybe swung things in my favour. I have agreed with the seller to keep the case open for now as I think he might need the footage if FX don't refund him. Anyway, will confirm on here when the chairs arrive. I wonder how this would have gone without the cctv?

Still curious if the other chairs will show up or be found. Let us know if you get an update on old ones!

Glad it all gets sorted in your favour eventually!

Sorry I haven’t read it all so apologies if it got sorted.
I was the victim of a fraud that could be what has happened to you even.
Mine was a dodgy return but could be the same as a dodgy seller.
what they do is send to the same postcode as you but change the house number and send something of no value so tracking and the tracking devices couriers and postmen use shows delivered practically to your door.
I went on Facebook and asked if anyone down my road had something that they didn’t order delivered . Thankfully a lady about 6 doors up with the same postcode said she had some sellotape delivered that she never ordered. She had kept the envelope and label so I checked tracking and that was supposed to be my iPad !
Clever scam . Thankfully ebay actually did the right thing and closed in my favour when I told them.

Hello all! A final update. The seller said he would send me a replacement set of chairs once I had written on the Ebay case that I had CCTV footage showing no delivery and no FedEx vehicle all day long in my mews. So, the new chairs arrived (this time with DPD). A few days later I had a response to the investigation I requested FedEx open and guess what? The response was that the chairs had been delivered on 6/8 at 12.31pm to my front door. I got back in touch and asked the person carrying out the investigation who authorised the package to be left and that I have footage proving no delivery all day long. Next thing the seller tells me he has filed a claim because the item should not have been left without a signature. Then a few days later I received an apology from FedEx saying the driver should not have left them in a vulnerable location. No mention of the fact that CCTV footage proved the driver was nowhere near my property or in fact any place along the mews I live in. I responded and pointed this out and I can see my email hasn't even been opened. I dread to think where I would be if it were not for my neighbour's CCTV footage. Thank-you to everyone on this thread who helped me. :)
