Reflective staining on sandstone normally shows up where the dabs of mortar are, not like those marks. The patio looks like it's been really well laid, including taking it flush with the brickwork, which is much better than letting it overhang.3

I know it’s not dot and dab.. more swirled or ridged?

Sorry, Essex Grl - I was being sarky. Why? Because your thread heading is 'Disaster patio', and when I looked at the photos I wept with envy.I'm ok now - thanks for asking. What to do? Get a definitive explanation. Go to the suppliers/manufacturers of the slabs and ask them. Meanwhile, be very careful of trying solutions (literally) in case they do stain or erode the surface.Do you have any leftover slabs or pieces to experiment with? And, almost certainly, it will fade in time as the salts are naturally washed away. Meanwhile, enjoy - it is gorgeous. Sob...3

How are you jeepers?
I can handle sarky!
Maybe disaster was a little over the top but that’s just me! Hard earned money on something that doesn’t look like it should.
I may well be over reacting but it bugs me every time I go outside.
The landscaper supplied the slabs as we struggled to find any we could view with everywhere being in lockdown.
I don’t have spare but have an out of view step that has been my tester slab.
Remind me to use porcelain next time! 🥴

I had my drive done with paving blocks (Marshall, charcoal) they too have white marks on them, it is the salt coming out, in time they will go off mine, I just have to sit and wait / stick a car on top of it.In truth I have far bigger things atm to worry about currently. It is a driveway I will get over it, and I paid mega bucks.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Patience isn’t one of my strong points!
Trust me I have far worse to worry about too but wanted opinions on if I’ve been done over. The consensus seems not which is great.0 -

When you and your guests are being plastered in casualty, you'll explain that the previous patio was not at all slippery, but there was some efflorescence.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?7
