Fridge/freezer - Smeg vs AEG vs Bosch

For what it's worth the Which best buys are all LG and Samsung. For reliability Fisher & Paykel is best with Samsung, LG and Bosch close behind.

Sorry - I didn't even know this was a thing - I'll need to check but thank you for alerting me.grumbler said:
I don't understand your question, but mine was about the bolts of your inbuilt fridge/freezer. Normally a compressor is suspended on springs to reduce transmitted vibration, but for transportation is fixed with bolts effectively disabling the springs.Deleted_User said:
Sorry, for a fridge/freezer?grumbler said:
I am sorry to state the obvious, but you did remove the transport bolts, didn't you?Deleted_User said:I have tried a mat before but this didn't reduce the vibrations.0 -
I was not aware of that, just googling it now and apparently Siemens falls under the same brand of Bosch and Neff too. Whether this means they all share the same compressor/motor I don't know.Sandtree said:I assume you are aware that Neff and Bosch are the same company and many of the items are identical other than some stylistic elements?0 -
We're in a new-build with AEG appliances (just came with the house - we didn't pay enough attention). The integrated fridge-freezer isn't frost-free! It didn't occur to me to ask because I thought all halfway decent freezers were frost-free these days. Ices up and needs defrosting every six months - so annoying. We've got an extra sub-£100 Currys own free-standing freezer that doesn't need defrosting!
Whatever you get, make sure it's frost-free.

Other than what has written off our 3 Samsung freezers is a fault in the "frost-free" mechanism - freezers aren't actually frost free they just go through a periodic defrost cycle... warm up enough to melt the frost/ice on the walls but not the contents. Unfortunately ours keeps getting stuck on so go to bed with a freezer at -23C and wake up with a freezer at +16Cpinkteapot said:Whatever you get, make sure it's frost-free.
Can only say for ovens and hobs... they are all identical from the outside other the branding and the handles/knob, or at least they were when I found I had a corporate discount and before I realised Miele had a flaw in their T&Cs for my discount with them!Deleted_User said:

Gaggenau is their other consumer brand but at a very different price point and unfortunately one our discount didn't apply to.

Please can you take a look at my pictures and advise? I'm not sure where to check:grumbler said:

It was a good shout to double check but personally never seen any fridge/freezer with them... they are very common on washing machines though. In those cases they are normally painted a bright colour or have a bright tag on them so they are obvious when you are following the instructions of what to remove.Deleted_User said:

Personally cannot see anything that looks like a restraining bolt so would assume your machine doesnt have any (or they were previously removed)2 -

I think you've been unlucky, or that Samsung has a design flaw then. I've had a few frost-free freezers (including, as I mentioned, a dirt-cheap Currys own brand one), as have family etc, and I've never heard of this fault before. Definitely won't stop me replacing our freezer that needs defrosting with a frost-free one when it dies!Sandtree said:
