Dyson V11 Absolute is crap. What else?

So we wasted £550 on this piece of crap and I want to know if ALL bagless and/or cordless vacuums are this bad, or if I might have better luck with a different model?
Sorry, I don't mean to pick on Dyson here, but for all their glitzy marketing and lofty price tag, I expected MUCH better.
Suction is next to useless on eco or med settings and the only reasonable settings is the boost mode, which only lasts for about 10 minutes - half of which is spent cleaning the actual brush heads.
Is it a cordless thing? Are they all truly terrible?

Of course, cordless thing. My corded 2kW Samsung has 360AW suction power vs Dyson's 185AW in the boost mode. That said, AFAIK, the maximum allowed power for corded vacuums is now just 0.9kW.0

You didn't waste your money because I hope you returned it for a full refund if you were dissatisfied.
I bought a different make cordless and bagless vacuum for slightly less than you paid and was very disappointed indeed. It did NOT do what the one on the TV advert did! And it did not hold the charge for as long as it was supposed to either.
I sent it back for a full refund and explained that it did not do what it was supposed to do. There was no argument.
Now I have a cheaper, corded vacuum and am much happier. It's bagless but it's SO much better than the all singing, all dancing cordless one that didn't do much at all except sing and dance. Which is not what you want in a vacuum.
Please do take/send yours back for a full refund. £550 is far too much to lose when you're dissatisfied. Just think about Mr D, laughing all the way to the bank with your money! You deserve better. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I must admit I've gone through a few rubbish cordless vacuums over the years including dyson. I never found any of the stick versions to have enough power or capacity
I now have a cordless henry, not quite so lightweight but the batteries last ages and it has good suction.1 -
Perhaps you have a dud one - we've had ours for 4 months now and it's brilliant. Like others, we have tried many cordless hoovers over the years, and this is the best that we've had. Never had any issue with the brush head, and use it on long hair after haircuts. We've got hard floors downstairs and no cat/dog hair, but when I've gone over the carpets with our corded hoover afterwards to test, I haven't picked up anything it's missed.1

Sorry this ads nothing to your question but I just had to comment as you've blown my theory that anyone who spent so much money on a vacuum cleaner would never admit that it was crap.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0

We have a Dyson v something or other and we have a corded Miele.
The Dyson is handy for a quick vacuum of a room or the car.
If it's particularly dirty or we're doing a few rooms the Miele comes out.0 -
I have the V10 and I HATE it. It’s my nemesis. I can’t afford a new one so just constantly slag it off loudly while I hoover. It blocks ALL THE TIME because of the stupid design, and pretends to suck up cat biscuits etc only to spit them all out as soon as you release the trigger. Also all the little rubber spikes on the brush bar wore off within 6 months. Had them replaced dor free under warranty but of course happened again out of warranty. And again. One day, one day when I’m richer than machine is being launched out of the third floor window purely because it would give me joy.0

We have a bag less vacuum, plus a Henry with bag. You can guess which one is clean and easy to empty. With the bag less one, it takes planning. I need a good strong breeze, close any windows and doors, then stand upwind of the bin.
The Henry is the one everyone prefers to use.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
