Home Accountz Online Backup

Sorry lr1277, I was just sharing something that had worked for me. Hopefully re-installing the program will resolve it. Glad to hear it worked for others though, especially the fact it removed both prompts. I still get the 2nd prompt and have to cancel it each time - even after trying the backup/restore fix suggested by 131065. Maybe its because I'm on a PC running Windows 10. Anyway I can live with it.

Mrbtfi - not to worry. I did notice the different folder names but carried on anyway. As an update (this post may be better placed in the techie forum, but there is no context there)I went to the accountz webpage and think I followed the instructions for updating accountz. I copied the relevant folder over. However it still failed after showing the splash screen for a few seconds. So I decided to uninstall Accountz and re-install it.So I went to Windows uninstall tool. An uninstall app appeared which seemed to do the trick. However Home Accountz still appeared in the list of apps that could be uninstalled. I tried again to uinstall and was told the uninstall app could not be found. So I went to re-install Accountz.First you have to install Java. As I already had Accountz, I thought I would have Java. But the Java uninstall app could not find a copy of Java. So I installed a copy of Java.I then copied the relevant folder to my desktop. This used a Cmd window to run a batch file to run the app. The Cmd window controls Accountz, so if you close the Cmd window, you close Accountz. Close Accountz by clicking on Exit and it closes down fine.So on starting up, there is still a box asking you to enter a username and password to connect to Accountz Central Hub. I cancel on this, and then Accountz appears.I probably have not set it up properly because it is asking for initial file locations etc. I just tell it to open my most recent Haz file.On close down, no dialogs and no trying to connect to the Accountz server. So it is working for me in a fashion. I haven't tried things like entering data or running reports. If and when I do and experience problems, I will update here.HTH0

I have recently had to upgrade to Windows 11 and did a clean upgrade. I followed the instructions on the “accountz.com/install” link. Everything works fine and after recovering the relevant back-up all my data is fine and back to normal with no On-line reminders or hang-ups.
I do have a problem though! This is an issue that arose before Accountz closed their doors and after an update. When booted up my text is reduced in size making it difficult to use. When this happened the last time I posted a question on the HAZ forum and was given a setting for one of the files in the "Home Accountz" program folder to adjust. This sorted out the scale. Unfortunately the forum no longer exists and the file structure in the program folder are different.
Such a shame that the forum and all the knowledge base is no longer available. It would be so helpful if someone could resurrect it.
I know that the replacement program is open source and uses Java. Is there someone that has taken on adjusting the code and if so how can I engage with them? Accountz.org doesn’t seem to have been updated since the demise and I am not sure how to contact someone on Github. Can anyone suggest how to adjust the text size or if there is a registry key to alter.

On the Windows version you go to Help -> About, and select the Arguments tab. Scroll down to find the two parameters font-1-size and font-2-size. You can increase these values to enlarge the fonts. I don't know where font-1 and font-2 are used, or what font sizes are valid, so a bit of trial-and-error. You have to re-start the programme each time.1

Many thanks, I knew it would be simple, just blame a dodgy memory and brain fog.Mine was set to font 1 (13) and Font 2 (14). Changed them to 15 and 14 respectively and works a treat.0 -
Hi Fellow Accountz-ers
I run Home Accountz on a Mac mini. It's been upgraded to Monterey 12.1 just after Christmas.
All had been going well, but today Accountz quit (this was to do with Java, which had quit unexpectedly) and doesn't want to re-open at all. In the past I've just re-opened Accountz and it's taken 1 or 2 attempts before it opens and allows me to post entries, but today I've tried 4-5 times and it won't re-open. I've also re-started the Mac, but that didn't work.
I have no idea what to do - not very technical regarding Java, but I can follow instructions!
Will I need a new version of Java or ???
Any help gratefully received!!
Thanks in anticipation.

No idea to your particular problem. However I am running windows and for the last few weeks it has been telling me there is a Java update available. I have not installed the update. My accountz is till running (as of this morning).I too am not technical but found the following. I don't know if it will be helpful. To find my Java version, into a search engine I typed:Windows What version of Java do I haveI was then given instructions on finding my java version.I am running Oracle JavaVersion 8 update 301(build 1.8.0_301-b09)

131065 said:I should have included that the restoring with a manual back automatically switched off online backup. It has not been reinstated presumably because it no longer exists.
After several failed attempts over time to resolve the backup prompt on my MacBook (running latest OS version) the only thing I hadn't tried was "131065"'s tip. Despite the backup restoration info details stating that the online backup will be disabled for the restored file, nonetheless it continues to appear both upon relaunch and periodically while the application is running ... did "131065"'s kind suggestion work for others and if not for you, have you managed to resolve this yet? Thanks.

Could I just check - are you running the final release of Accountz, build 210719?Help -> About -> Licence -> Build Version: 21.07.19
This resolved the issue on my Windows version, coupled with restoring with a manual backup.0 -

This resolved the issue on my Windows version, coupled with restoring with a manual backup.Yes, that's the one.I wonder if this is a 'Java thing' - the difference being Windows vs Mac. I'm no expert but I seem to recall that Apple has a real issue with using that and other 3rd party protocols for security/integrity reasons (arguably, quite reasonably).0
