OK, I'll see if my son can help. I do back up onto a memory stick so the data will be safe.
I still think that the people at Accountz could have foreseen this happening - maybe that's why they included the manual software installation?
Thanks for your reply, stephen2927.0 -
I'm also a HAZ user and I have found a fairly painless way to revert back to the previous version so that the Online Backup can be disabled. Unfortunately it doesn't eliminate the 2nd prompt to authenticate with the Accountz hub but I just cancel that and carry on.For anyone interested :1. Launch File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Home_Accountz_v32. There should be some folders (previous versions) titledlib_210506lib_210602lib_2107193. Rename the last one to lib_210719x so that the program won't recognize it4. Launch HAZ and cancel the prompts.5. The program should now be running the previous version (210602) and you can disable the online backup underFile - Online Backup Settings - Disable6. After that exit the program and rename lib_210719x back to lib_210719
Now when you launch HAZ, there is just the one prompt instead of two. If I can find a way of eliminating that I'll post an update.

Many Thanks mrbtfi, your solution worked perfectly for me and has removed ALL prompts. Nice clear instructions.1

lib_200925
lib_210719I renamed the last one to lib_210719x and then restarted Accountz.I got a message to the effect of the program had detected a newer version of the data file and would need to restart with a newer version of the program. I clicked OK and then everything disappeared. So I then removed the 'x' from the folder name and restarted accountz. The Splash screen appeared for a few seconds and then disappeared. I checked task manager and there is no indication of Accountz as one of the running programs.Looks like I will have have to re-install Accountz using the instructions given by the company.

Note that Accountz doesn't appear in the Windows Task Manager because its a Java app - only the Java Runtime shows in Task Manager.1

I have managed to overcome the problem by taking a manual backup and restoring to it. The restore disables the online backup and, so far, it has not reinstated itself. No more prompts, no more freezing, etc.1

Hi
I agree with ASBBSA:

I followed the instructions too and was able to access the earlier version - with the dropdown to cancel the online backup settings - as I mentioned in the original post. It was so easy to do and it has removed BOTH prompts.
As I have a MAC, I thought I'd let other Mac users know where the 'lib' folders are:
Macintosh HD/Applications/Home_Accountz_v3
Thanks again mrbtfi.

I have a MAC and the simple restoring of a very recent manual backup has resolved all the problems. The online backup remains disabled and there are no prompts at all. All I did was insert the stick into the MAC, open Accountz, select Restore a Backup, select Browse, select / , select Volumes, select the stick, select the relevant Backup and the rest is obvious.0

I should have included that the restoring with a manual back automatically switched off online backup. It has not been reinstated presumably because it no longer exists.0
