Unless you actually tell us the cost of the filter, labour rate and time taken to do the job, nobody can even guess as to whether the cost was reasonable.

Edit : Should have gone to Honda !

Their fixed price repair for a diesel fuel filter is £126.

If you read the Honda link, they do say "regardless of complications" so if it takes longer than planned there is no extra cost.

So if your local garage took longer than planned they will have charged you accordingly.

Main dealer prices are not always a rip off, you get genuine parts and technicians who have been trained on the vehicle type.

£126 to change the filter will not include cleaning out the housing.

£126 for Honda, my local Honda said 2 weeks before they could even book me in!
  • Has the repair fixed the car? If yes then no amount of coulda, woulda, shoulda alters that fact. Have you been 'ripped off' maybe, probably not though. Cars go wrong they have to be fixed and you say Honda couldn't for you in for 2 weeks so you went independent. It all sounds a bit 'mountain out of a mole hill to me'
