EDF Nightmare

I too got an EDF bill based upon estimated readings. I raised a complaint, pointing out to them their site showed my actual readings. I had a revised bill showing actual readings within 24 hours!0

I too got swapped over to EDF from GNE. It kept saying they would take a meter reading which never happened and just yesterday I got a bill and notification they want to basically double my DD although this was more than enough to cover what I paid GNE.
It looks like my gas/electric was costing me £21 a week in May and June - there is only 2 of us and 1 isn't here 3 nights a week so I think this is really high.
I am not going to agree to the increase in DD and would like to wait and see what happens - I took the same approach with my water bill.Been around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!0 -
@squirrelchops
Were you in credit/debit with your GNE account?
Where are you getting the £21 a week from - is this your own readings and then applying the Edf GNE Welcome tariff ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
£21 a week is based on their bill and them saying how much I used in that period.Robin9 said:@squirrelchops

I have just been in contact with EDF and yes I was £13 in credit when I swapped over from GNE so all in all i have been paying the right amount (I hadnt been told this until today when i contacted them).
They have agreed not to increase by DD by £40 a month and to wait and see if thing balance out - I am pleased with the outcome.Been around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!0 -
Where has Edf got it's meter reads from - Smart meter or your readings or are they guessing ?squirrelchops2 said:

They estimated opening reading as I hadnt been asked to provide one then I provided current readingBeen around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!0

Then the £21 a week is rubbish isn't it.
Edf will have tweaked the DD knowing the last actual you gave GNE and the one you gave them.
Give Edf regular meter reads - don't wait to be asked.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Thanks Robin will do. I know things might have increased a bit with having so many more weeks of rubbish weather plus, of course still working from home but fingers crossed I can get it sorted out within the next few months.Been around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!0

@squirrelchops2 Do you keep your own records ? A simple spreadsheet will help together with a date in your diary to remind to read those meters.

In the end someone from EDF offered to call me between 10-2 today to look into the problem but no call came. They also told me my account would be updated with the meter readings I sent in on July 15th and a new bill would be generated within 24 hours but more than 24 hours on my account remains the same and no bill has come through.
You can say I am underpaying but everyone values different things @McKneff. I would happily pay a bit more if I could track my usage and/or have someone reliable and competent to speak to when I have an issue rather than wasting time and money on the phone to EDF or emailing EDF.
I really can’t wait to move away to another provider 🤣 I never had these issues with GNE or Bulb, my last two providers.1
