Ebay is okay if you want to sell items that are not common or plentiful.

Alternatively, you could always try selling on Gumtree. Or even through your local marketplace group on Facebook. Competition on those sites isn't as competitive and local people may want to buy from you and, as they are local they may be able to collect, which will save postage.

    8) eBay seems to like auctions as if only 1 bid is made they are guaranteed their commission, have a look at similar items to the ones you are selling, this should give you an indication as the whether you should sell at Fixed Price or Auction

This is good for seeing what your competition is, but better to check sold prices as well to see what people are actually paying for similar items.

That was TIP No 11 😁
I always press ‘Watch this item’ to see what stuff is selling for, just to make price comparisons.

I phoned eBay a couple of years ago as a couple of items that i was selling were not on the site, the person in question told me they were showing up on her screen, and then blinded me with science why they weren’t showing up on mine.

    TIPS

I purchased an item from a seller that had no listings and the rare item had zero results no matter which ebay site
you used to search  co.uk, com etc etc..

Only found the item after someone posted a link in a forum. Really strange that visiting the users page showed zero
listing. Item arrived with no issues though.

    2) If you are selling in Auction, try to end the auction on Sunday evening as that is when most people are likely to be home.
List it on Thursday evening and press 10 days not 7 that way your Auction items will get 3 extra days.

    4) Compare the items you are selling with other sale sites, bit pointless you selling something 40% below shop price if sale site is offering 50% off.

    8) eBay seems to like auctions as if only 1 bid is made they are guaranteed their commission, have a look at similar items to the ones you are selling, this should give you an indication as the whether you should sell at Fixed Price or Auction

Some good points and some additions.

    2) Ending on a Sunday evening might not necessarily be the best idea. Something wanted will get bids whatever time it ends. You can also check ended listings and see which times they raised the best prices. If 500 Benny Hill DVDs end on a Sunday evening they probably won't raise as much as the one listing that ends on a Wednesday.

    4) Most customers won't be checking other sites.

    8) Ebay's main revenue is from fixed price sales. The auction side is what pulls customers in. Last time I heard any figures it was 80/20 fixed price versus auctions. It's possibly weighted more to fixed price now.

No need to watch, just check completed listings. Using completed listings you can also tell whether the item does better BIN or auction (and it can make a difference depending on the item) and what day is best to end it.

I also rarely ever do 10 day listings there’s no point , most people only buy in the last day or so anyway and those that like to wait until the end and manually snipe will probably lose interest if they have to wait 10 days.
