  • I searched security procedures at airports, and that is all it bought up - nothing about checking tickets only baggage.

  • no. you say "you are allowed up to 3 letters incorrect," you are saying there is a rule. as i said before OWEN and MANN are only three letters wrong but you would not get on the plane.

I never said it was a rule did i?

I said in general you are allowed.

How do you know you wouldn't get on the plane?

My last 3 letters of my surename are ton, i got on with it saying not instead.

GF's dad got allowed to fly from Cardiff to Dublin on Ryanair and they had name down as Cavanagh instead of Kavanagh, they couldn't find it at first then one woman suggested looking at C instead of K and said it happens all the time.

  • I think this 3 letter thing is an "urban myth"
People with short names could have a field day ie Tom could be Joe, Smith could be Blyth etc etc
I would think for rule of thumb, sensible discretion is required ie if you add or drop 2nd "n" in ****mann or Mac***** insted of Mc*****

Which means your booking was only 2 letters wrong.

Where did I say it was a legislation.

Most places will allow up to 3 letters wrong as they go by the name on the passport, but it is at the discrepinancy of the staff on the day!
