  • So its starting to feel like a weekend to me, not sure why. On the local news it's been about all the traffic queues around the city and outskirts, I'm pleased I didn't have to go out today but I will have to go for one more small shop but it will be local, I try not to do any shopping the week between Christmas and New Year but as dd and family are here I will need bits and pieces I suppose.milk
Although they have organized some days/nights out so perhaps I'll be saved from cooking on those days 🤣 I hope!!
So today I have finished off moving furniture, making clean beds up, doing subsequent washing and a general clean, so just have the floors to hoover and mop, the bathrooms final scrub and then I can sit down and get this pesky budget sorted and start my Xmas library book!
Their flight, dds, gets in about 10.30 Friday night so they should arrive here about 2hours later if there aren't any holdups so I'll make sure the kettles boiled and the tea is ready😀.
I've decided when they have left after the new year, as I clear the two bedrooms up and put everything back in their rightful places, I'm going to have a sort out - I'm not sure if I have mentioned it before but having to clear wardrobes, drawers and my craft room out has made me realise how much stuff I do have and I'm always telling people I don't own much, I should have said I don't have much on display, so it's an ideal time to start😀 Another area that needs tackling is the food mountain!!!! I'm thinking of a large bookcase type thing, using the shelves like a shop and making a curtain to go over the front, that way it will house the tins and packets and use some more of my material stash and it will live in the smallest bedroom, along with a drop leaf table for my sewing machine. I'll have to buy both unit and table but they will be second-hand and upcycled. Eldest dd was going to give me dgds shelves but they aren't getting rid of them for a while.
So I'm making plans and will be writing them down before I forget, so I can tick them off. Theres other bits and pieces I'm pondering on but I will commit to them when I've thought them through, as I don't want to write them down unless they are feasible, they're nothing exciting though, just bits to keep me frugal and on track.😀
Anyway, I'm off for a look around the boards, which I haven't done lately

A bookcase with a nice curtain is a great idea for your food stash, @nannygladys.

  • WinterWarrio-i haven't seen my middle daughter and family since before CV, so I am looking forwards to seeing them and having them staying with me, but I'm dreading the expense of it all, the g&e they will use and I've already spent quite a bit on food etc. But they are supposed to be be giving me some monetary help, well I live in hope that they haven't forgotten.

  • Today I've been busy finishing off cleaning, moving stuff and a final bit of shopping so I'm not going to the shops until after new year when daughter goes back to warmer climes - yay!!!!
The weather has been wet but still quite cold which surprised me as I thought it was going to warm up a bit.
I must remember to take the Xmas cake out of my freezer and ice it although I might do it next week, as I have mince pies and I'll be making a trifle for Xmas pudding as there's only me who likes it 😀 (that's Xmas pudding just me likes)
I'm just rattling on now so I'll go, I slept very little last night - probably getting a bit stressed about DD coming, so I'm off to bed even though I'm not tired yet and I haven't had a nanna nap either.
