Hi there,
Cbsexec: I have tried surveys in the past but never qualified for many, but will check out TNS postal one - thanks. I haven't come across the food parcels but will look into them, I must admit I do grow quite a bit of fruit and veg and am veggie, so some parcels I would have to waste but I suppose I could give what I don't need to someone else. Thanks for the ideas.
So I get paid tomorrow and I have made it - yay!!!
In the morning I will be doing my budgets and I have found a unused notebook to put all spends down etc to keep me focused as it has to come more a way of life. Looking in my fridge and cupboards I still have a bit of stuff so will work a menu around some of that at least for the first week and I will eating quite a bit from the lottie (mainly courgettes at the moment). I keep finding tins/jars that I have put away for some reason and I still have a Xmas pudding left over from last Xmas!! So it be interesting!!
I have been looking after dgs today, my youngest dgc, and he is taking his first steps it's so cute he looks so proud of himself and then I took some presents around to another dgd who was 4 today, she is such a little dot but is into diggers, bulldozers and dinosaurs!! No princesses and unicorns there!
Well off to bed I'm late tonight as my kindle wasn't charged up and I didn't realise but I didn't get in to nearly 8pm, had tea watched some tv and then looked at it, well that's my excuse anyway lol.

For some reason I was up with the lark today, so got online and shuffled money about and redid budgets. I will be open minded about them as it will be new way of budgeting for me so I may have to tweak it at some stage.
So monies put into envelopes, well jars really, so I know what I have to play with, I think I am more of a visual person. My debit card has now been put away and I have found a couple of old purses to use when I go out.I don't need to go shopping yet but will need a few bits for the weekend but I will wait until absolutely necessary and only buy what I need.
Looking after a dog tomorrow for the day, I haven't met her yet and its a favour whilst they go to her owners funeral so lots of love and understanding probably needed, poor little thing, at least someone she knows in the family have her now.
Then I am looking after dgd2 over the weekend whilst her mum and partner go to a wedding over the other side of the country. I'm looking forwards to it as we speak on the phone but I don't see her that often. A film night is on the cards I think.
Anyway I will sign off now, keep safe and well everyone.

Well done on looking at your budget. I have several old purses and might try similar. I think I’m so much better with cash but where we are shops don’t seem keen on using cash now due to covid.I’m going to have to leave my cards at home on Saturday to avoid any impromptu pay day splurges. I’m doing my mums weekly food shop (she’s 89 and hasn’t been out much recently) and she likes a local very nice supermarket - way too many tempting treats for my pocket unfortunately 😂

Hi nettyz,
I find I'm better at handling cash, it makes me more careful, I suppose it's something to do with physically seeing it, but I have to make sure I leave my card at home as I will still use it - don't know why as I know I have the cash!! Psychological I suppose.
Anyway walked my little doggy friend I dog sat today to the post office (I had a stamp already) and posted a letter and then came back the long way round. No money spent and a good bit of exercise.
Sat and read my library book for a little while and made a rice based soup which was lovely and very filling and really hit the spot as its quite cool today.
I have 2 dgds tomorrow, one staying over night. I found a chocolate brownie mix in the cupboard whilst doing an inventory so they can make those tomorrow and hopefully there will a few left for Saturday.
Not much else has happened, but found out I'm not entitled to any more help with the council tax - I already receive a discount and I own my house, might have been different if I was renting. But fair enough at least I asked the question!
Going to have a browse and then go to bed for an early night I think, ready for the girls tomorrow.

Hi all
Well dgc had a good day I think and I have one staying over night. Tomorrow we will go out as long as it's not raining too much and then she will be collected around tea time.
Nothing spent, all food from dds or out of cupboards, they made the brownies and a huge bowl of popcorn for snacks so that was free as well!! I'm enjoying making meals from what I have in, although it makes for some different combinations than I'm use to!
So that's it for today, I will be resting on Sunday I think before it all starts again on Monday.

Well I don't know what I did to my back last night - I was only unplugging things - and by gum it doesn't half hurt! Anyway I've dosed myself up so it keeps coming and going as the pills wear off. Trying to keep moving as that seems to help, sitting makes it hurt more. Anyway less about that.
No shopping today, so no money spent. Lunch was a quick pasta bowl and dinner will be stuffed courgette. I've never made one before and I will be making it up as I go along!!!!
I put a load in the washer last night on a timer and as its raining here, I'm afraid it's gone into the dryer not very frugal but it's worth it to me today(as my back hurts so much), and I hardly ever use it.
Anyway going to have a quick look around the boards then do a bit of knitting.

Oh I cannot like courgette, it would be ‘get’ stuffed courgette for me 😬 aubergine is another strange textured beast! I can’t argue with a pasta lunch though!I hope your back feels better soon. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

@nannygladys do you bake cakes? When I was working a colleague used to bring in a courgette cake, not dissimilar to carrot cake. I don't have a recipe but it might be a way to use your extra crop?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. I will look into those survey sites as some extra monies would be a great help, thanks
WinterWarrior: laughed about 'get stuffed' courgette. I didn't have it yesterday but I did it today and it was ok! I made the filling up with what I had in and a bit of cheese on top, but I only used half of it (it is quite big) so tomorrow it will be a risotto.
Well I have oldest dgd here tonight then tomorrow we are going to dd2 so I can look after dgs for the day (the youngest) So I actually went shopping for food in asder and spent just £14.76 which is just inside my weekly amount, but I should be able to manage until next shopping day as I have all the necessities in and I'm going to make a cake for something sweet to have with a coffee. So that's about it for today, my back is much better today but is definitely easier if I keep upright rather than sitting - just my luck lol!!!!
