I have been thinking bits and bobs through tonight and I'm feeling much better about it all, I just need to get some order in my life.
Money - I will continue on my 'as low as I can' after my failure at £5 a week grocery shopping and will start going to the hub again, just for fruit and veggies if they have any. I do eat quite simply and cook from scratch and that will continue.
I will continue to save all I can for the home and garden things that need doing, I noticed on my way out yesterday that some pointing needs to be done around two windows and the outside needs painting as well, I think I will make a list of everything that needs doing and then prioritize the jobs, I'll work on that tomorrow and list them somewhere so I can save and mark them off as they're competed. It's going to take time as my list keeps increasing 😐 the good thing is I can perhaps get my sils doing a bit of the simple work if I ask them nicely but I'll have to wait a while 😃so every penny will have to be wisely spent and any leftover will be saved. I'll put my list up when I've done it and any saving as well, just to keep me going. And work out how much I've spent on food in total as it might help me not to go overboard on grocery spending.
Tomorrow is cleaning etc ready for next week, hopefully I might get out into the garden for a bit as I ought to start some tidying up of the flower beds etc, as it says it should be fine but cold. Oh my goodness look at the time, nitey nite£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund7 -
It's hard when you've set yourself an allowance and gone over it, but instead of letting it get you down, realise you've tried something and learned from it. So pick yourself up, dust yourself off and decide what it is you learned.
I'd forgotten you have the hub to visit, what a great idea that is! And the very fact you mention it here might be helping someone else find and use a similar thing.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Cherryfudge - its much more difficult than I thought it would be, I suppose that's life isn't it. I will keep costs down but when you run out of a couple of biggish or should I say more expensive items (or toilet rolls and shampoo - both of which I thought I had) it gets more difficult. I real feel for people who are in a no/low money situation and I think I'm so lucky to have at least enough for food and the necessities.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund8

Today I was up really late!!!! I really didn't realise the time last night or this morning!! I really must address it and move my body clock by a couple of hours somehow.
I've done some basic housework and will finish it off tomorrow, changed my bed and cleaned the bedroom and bathroom. Made a barley and dumpling stew for tea and lettuce 'wraps' for lunch
So not a very exciting day but I have x-stitched quite a big area of my present project and I have undone my jumper again as I'm not happy with the new ball of wool.
After going to the Lottie yesterday I have been planning the back garden beds out, I just need to get some more wood and ask sil if he will make one extra for me. I will end up with two large raised beds after the rejig and I'm thinking one summer and one winter, the allotment will be mainly summer stuff for freezing and eating by the family and fruit. Dd has asked if I will refrain from growing too many courgettes this year, but there's cake pickles and jam that I can use it for ....🤣🤣🤣
So no money spent ,no walks walked and not seen/spoke to anyone. Well that's all I've done/achieved today and tomorrow is a brand new day - 😊

Woke up early today as the dustbin van woke me up 😏 stayed in bed in the warm for a while but needed the loo so got up and got stuck into house work 😏 put towels and sheets on the line outside and it was that cold it looked as if I'd hung sheets of cardboard out even though the sun was out 🤣 anyway achieved quite a lot in the house so was pleased about that.
Had a long telephone chat with youngest dd and I'll be going up there tomorrow to see baby and dgs just incase the weather people are right and the snow falls later in the week.
I haven't been out, only in the garden and putting the bins away but I sat down and went through all my seeds (and there are many!) to see if I needed to buy any and really there's only potatoes, onions and celery to buy and this year I'm buying tomato plants, replacement strawberry plants and perhaps a chilli and pepper plants if I see any when needed. Last year I bought tomato plants as my seeds failed and they produced such heavy crops I'm going to do the same this year. I do have a monthly savings pot for the garden and Lottie so I can afford all the bits and pieces I need - I really do have pots for everything and little spare money for extras like days out etc, but I don't feel deprived or anything as it's money for things I enjoy. Anyway better go I'm going to do a bit more sewing, little and often is my mantra for that!!

How often should I replace my strawberry plants please? I think they're on their third year and didn't fruit so well last year.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Cherryfudge - they usually say replant after three years but my present ones have only been in two years but were runners from runners from runners and like yours didn't produce many last year, so I thought I would restock with brand new nursery plants this year. The original plants which gave very big and tasty strawberries were given to me by a kind gentleman from the the allotment quite a few years ago when I first took on my allotment . My grandchildren love coming to the Lottie picking strawberries and raspberries, mind you not many get to their house that they have picked 🤣£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund5
