joedenise - I also have a cushion accrued in the g&e account but I can't stop being frugal somehow, it's thought of being in any debt again. I have a smart meter and keep track of the account on there, I'm not sure whether I like it or not as I only took real notice of it since all the prices starting rising so steeply but I suppose it stops me having the heat on full all the time 🤣🤣🤣

Today seems to have gone really quickly for me. I did some cleaning etc this morning and talked to youngest dd on the phone whilst I had a coffee break 🤣. It was fat club this afternoon and I lost a grand total of 1/2lb 🤣 could have been worse I could have put it on! Before I went there I went boot shopping, I bit the bullet and bought a waterproofed pair of boots that look like dm's, they are very comfortable and remind me of my younger years when I used to wear the real ones🤣🤣 they did cost me an arm and a leg but nothing like real dm's. Paid cash so happy about that.
The pup is now going home on Friday, we were snowed in at the weekend so he didn't go home, that's another problem of living at the top of a hill with flat plains around where the snow comes from but we get to build some cracking snowmen, snow woman, snow kids and snow dogs, it's flooding where my youngest lives as the river is quite near to where they live and they have had lots of rain, they only live 16 miles from me but the weather is so different!! Anyway I'm going to take him back so I get to the grandchildren and tree decorations etc.
I also did a small shop, I worked out a menu for next week and mostly used food I have in so the bill was keep nice and low. Whilst there I was surprised how many people were food shopping, it was quite busy and can only summarise that they are Xmas food shopping over the next couple of weeks to spread the cost out. I haven't seen or heard of the cheap veggies being offered this year, so I'll have to visit the food hub to see if I can get any there, I haven't been for a while, oh and has the price of fuel come down because at the Tesco I went to it was under 140p and I'm sure it was over that when I filled up a few weeks ago, I didn't get any as I don't need any yet.
Anyway I'll stop waffling now.

I've noticed that the price of fuel has come down over the last week or so, although I paid 147p for diesel today which is more than the price you saw. I checked on the petrol prices comparison site before I went out - 147p was the cheapest but the most expensive in same area was 10p more!
Your boots sound lovely, you deserve to treat yourself sometimes.
I too was surprised at how many people were grocery shopping today, I saw some very loaded up trollies!
I got a brilliant Lidl box today - 2 bags tiny salad potatoes, 2 bags carrots, 2 avocados, 4 tomatoes, 1 pepper, a punnet of grapes, a bag of mixed salad leaves, 3 'growing' lettuce, broccoli, 2 persimmon, 6 apples. All in perfect condition except the pepper was rather soft so that's now been chopped & frozen.
A lady was sat outside the store looking very cold & selling the Big Issue so I bought her some food with the money I saved. There's always someone worse off than us, isn't there!

kayannie - that was a really good box from Lidl, and it's lovely when you can pay something forwards. I always look if I go into Lidl's but I've never come across a good box, I think I go there too late! I was looking at the price of fuel again today as I went past, and petrol was just below 140p so I reckon at Asda on the nearest retail park is probably a couple of P's cheaper.

SuperMoose - thanks for the heads up on the cheap veggies. I've already bought more freezer bags and containers are all washed and ready, so I'm prepared 🤣🤣. Youngest dd informed me of the cheap Aldi mince pies!! We both love them and she's already bought a few boxes ( not sure if they'll last to Xmas though🤣🤣)

I went upto see youngest dd and grandson and baby, eldest Dgd was at school. We went to the nearest large garden centre to enjoy all the beautiful decorations and Xmas bits they have, I do love the build up to Xmas😀 we bought two coffees, 4 small cakes as they were on special offer and a chocolate baby Chino for dgs, all was enjoyed and finished 🤣🤣 and dgs went into the play area, made a little friend and didn't want to come out again🤣🤣.
Took pup up with me and he is now home again 😞 it seemed so quiet when I got home, I'll miss him.
I had a really lovely day and I picked their sister up from school before I came home and her face lit up when she saw me, love all the dgc they always manage to give me a warm fuzzy feeling, all of them 😍. I have 7 dgc in total, between three dds, and they are all brilliant but then I'm biased of course 😂
So that's about it really, not sure what I'm doing this weekend, it depends on the weather, we did see a huge rainbow today between the rain showers though.

I wasn't aware mince pies had to last to ChristmasPlease put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs4 -
SuperMoose - 🤣🤣🤣
they certainly don't last in my house!!! I've even eaten them whilst frozen as I love them that much🤣🤣 and DD takes after me, mind you she has competition now two of her littlies love them as well ( partners doesn't like dried fruit!?!?!?) So one box of six only lasts two outings for her, me I can have all six 🤣🤣🎄❄️🎉🎉👍
I am going to freeze a couple boxes though£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund5 -
We regard mince pies as essential fuel for preparing for Christmas. Mr MV starts on them after Halloween but I am more restrained and hold off until December! I only make my own in the days just before Christmas as they wouldn’t last otherwise! Grandchildren are a joy 😍5
