Its nice to see you posting again.
You really deserve that 'bonus' £100.3 -
I find it is very easy to lose the momentum with keeping track of things when health issues take over. We are only human after all so I hope you won’t be too hard on yourself. I was absolutely delighted when I read that you had found £100! Definitely a symbol of your ability to organise your finances too. I’m glad everything is now settling after your cataract surgery.3

Cherryfudge - Xmas …. A couple of years ago I started to give my dds money for the family so they can spend it on what they like, I never know what to buy the dgc so I took the very easy option🤣 last year youngest daughter spent the money taking her family ice skating and a meal, which is something they would never do, and I pleased it was used this way, eldest daughter put it in a central pot for the dgc Xmas gifts and had something themselves if I remember correctly and middle daughter I haven’t a clue 🤣🤣 I always give it to them before Xmas so I’m hoping they do something similar, in all honesty I would prefer they had a family experience of some kind, one they would never do! I don’t usually treat myself, well only to a bottle of something nice and a treat or two of food 🤣🤣

Baron_Dale - I have had a couple of very small pensions in the past. The first one I was told the money put into it was eaten up by admin costs, the second one I receive a very very small amount not enough to make much difference to my state pension, and in the mean time I was told by a pension advisor who came into work to advise everyone that I would have to put much more into it than I physically able, to get back more than a few pounds a week, so I declined! The third one was with Sainsburys who was one of the companies trialing the gvt one which I could opt out of but didn’t , and as I was only there five years the amount I get back isn’t very big even though I deferred from having it twice. I’m afraid I was a single mum who opted to buy a house whilst on small wages and that (along with all the bills) took the bulk of my money and that was my choice and I’m happy I did as I don’t have to worry about mortgage or rent at all. Ultimately it was my choice and I can mostly manage on what I get by allocating my money into pots , but it doesn’t leave you with much but at least I can pay all my bills and that gives me peace of mind. But thanks for asking and I hope it’s clearer for you.

KxMx - my nhs dentist has very recently gone ‘private’ and at the moment there aren’t any nhs dentists with vacancies, I keep looking on our council website to no avail. I thought it strange when they keep cancelling my appts, my eldest daughter used the same dentist and it’s the same for her. It seems the nhs dentists are willing to accept children but not adults and both me and dd have to pay, it’s not as if we get free dental care. She has found a dentist for the children but like me is looking for one for herself and hubby! Thanks for link I will later on.

Warby68 - the £100 I’ve put to one side as it must have been earmarked for something but I just can’t remember 🤣🤣🤣 so if I still have it after Xmas I might treat myself to a decent winter coat or a good pair boots, I daren’t spend it yet just in case it comes back to me, mind you I’m always doing this and I’ve probably used some other money or paid for whatever it was on my debit card 🤣🙂

Moorviews - my eyes seem fine and I have two weeks of drops left and then hopefully I get signed off, can make an appointment with the optician and then hopefully get driving and down the Lottie I’ll go🤣🤣 I can happily recommend having cataracts done, even though I’ve had problems with both eyes but in both cases it was nothing to do with the surgery (although the first op hurt!) it has been too high pressure in the eyes (not glaucoma) and eye inflammation from having shingles a few years ago, which manifested in the first eye so they have been very cautious with my second eye, but I can see so much better now, it has been so worth it!
The £100 I wish I knew what I saved it for but it is a very nice find, was it for petrol or did I leave it there for something else!!! It will get spent after Xmas as I reckon I’ll have kept it long enough by then🤣🤣£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3 -
The poor pup hasn’t been out for a couple of days as my gp has put me on some new bp tablets and I’ve had a couple of common but uncomfortable side affects over the last three days so haven’t been out. The first was dizziness and feeling very light headed I was walking leaning to side!! and the second was flushing!!! My cheeks felt as if they were on fire and my chin was bright red, luckily they only lasted a few days and (fingers crossed) they have abated. I have to go back next week to see the bp nurse , all this was because I had my annual checkup and ended up having to take my blood pressure four times a day and record them, the bp nurse was surprised I didn’t have a machine and I think he was surprised when I said it was his job not mine🤣🤣 the rest was done by text!! It did upset me a bit as I eat healthy, exercise-well walk as much as I can and garden, I’ve given up ultra processed food and feel really healthy 🙂 but years ago I was told it must be generic as they couldn’t find a cause, so I have accepted it, went out and had a chocolate bar that I didn’t really enjoy ☹️ Anyway I have to have the bp machine after another week of tablets to make sure it’s not too high or too low and hopefully ‘Bobs your uncle, Fanny’s your aunt and Dicks your next door neighbour’ and I get on with life again😀
On the money front as I’ve been confined to barracks no money has been spent, I ran out of milk but that was the only thing and as I’ve been paid today what was left in my purse has gone into the change tin. I was out this afternoon at fat club and went into the post office across the road from it and drew my money out and bought some milk,, so my card has been put away again and that’s what I will manage on for the next four weeks. All monies have been allocated into their pots so the only money in my current account is for direct debits. I do need to go shopping though but I really need to see what needs eating, mainly out of the freezer, in fact I’m thinking of getting a small chest freezer and putting it in my smallest bedroom, and then I can fill it up next year with fruit and veg off the Lottie and garden instead of having to eat it all because the freezer I have is full, especially as I’m growing more each year! But I’m still thinking about that one. So that’s tomorrows job, meal planning for two weeks and hopefully stick to it!!I’ve also been in garden this morning clearing bits and bobs away and digging up some big yellow daisy flowers that want to take over everything! I left a few in as I do like them but not over the whole of one border!!
Anyway I’ll go now, times passing and I have to be up earlier tomorrow as pups mum is bringing new dgd down for visit, not sure if she is taking the pup back or not though☹️Nannyg£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund6 -

Those side effects must have been a real nuisance. Hope you're clear of them now.
It's very sensible to give money for Christmas if you aren't absolutely sure of what people want - and children's tastes can change so quickly. The ice skating sounds like fun, and an activity they could repeat if they wanted without it spoiling. I still remember trying it out as a teenager, and what fun it was.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
