  • Black cats and WinterWarrior - I'm glad it's not just me, I felt guilty putting it out there as you just think it's yourself that does these things!!

WinterWarrior - I haven't made flapjack for ages, that's going on the list!

I'm spending some money on food tomorrow, I can't believe it was last Monday when I spent anything and if it wasn't for milk, butter and margarine (for baking) I probably wouldn't bother yet. I still can't believe I used to over spend so much on food, I can really as I would shop once a week and then top up with food I fancied on that day so there we go another confession! I certainly feel better the last couple of months being accountable, especially health wise.

I did a cv test today, only the second one I've done, as I'm going out to the theatre tomorrow night, it's been cancelled once so I'm really looking forwards to actually going out and bringing a little normality back in my life. The tickets were paid for ages ago and the test negative so happy days:)

Off to bed as I have another dgd tomorrow morning but as her mum is working from home in the afternoon I can take her back early, she's 8 and fine with her own company, whilst mum works at the table. She goes back to school on Friday.

  • Flapjack is versatile too as you can throw in chocolate chopped up, raisins, muesli, cherries or whatever you have laying around to jazz it up a bit….scones are good for some of that too 😁
I hope you enjoy the theatre…what are you seeing?

  • WinterWarrior- just got back from dropping off dd after thee theatre. We went to see Ben Fogle, he was just the same as on telly etc, comes across as a really nice individual and very funny and interesting!! Really enjoyed it.

Well, I actually went shopping and spent £21.45!!!!  I know it's a lot of money for me but I shouldn't have to go out for a while and I'm well stocked up, and 1.99 of that was for a fridge lightbulb.

Off to bed shortly as its been a long day. Up early (for me), collected dgd from dd3 and came back home, went to the community hub, then cooked lunch for us before taking her back this afternoon, then back home again (16 busy miles each way x 2) sat down had a quick tea and out to collect dd1 to go out!

  • WinterWarrior - thank you :)

Nit a particularly busy day. Made soup and rice pudding, cleaned a but, made/took phone calls and went a walk tonight.
Soup was courgette and potato, and I think the last one I did was better, or is that me just thinking it was as I used similar ingredients and the rice pudding was made with oat milk that I don't usually drink and it needed using up and I over did the honey in it!!
The walk was just local and I felt I needed to do one, but it's so hilly around where i live it puts you off going local! Feeling very unfit at the moment so I need to do it more often to get some sort of fitness level higher than minus 10 :/
Anyway off to bed, have to get up early tomorrow as I have quite a bit to fit into it, nothing important but I need to get a wiggle on and get stuff done before I start on some sewing.

  • Delurking to say good to see you went to the theatre and glad BF is as nice as he seems on the TV.
You do so well on a small budget.
Do you tend the allotment by yourself?

Are you tech savvy, do you use reward credit cards. Depending where you shop on buy fuel on certain credit cards the loyalty points can really add up. Sainsburys offer treble points on all their shopping and fuel if you use their credit card for instance

Download Huyu to your phone, every supermarket receipt you snap and upload earns you 5 points. Up to 10 a week is allowed. Get 500 points and you can claim a £5 digital giftcard. I use Tesco as i call in most mornings. Also you get a bonus if you refer people

doingitanyway - I'm doing OK at the moment but it's because I have a lot of food in!! And I get the majority of veg from the allotment. Im doing a no spend September, I have lowered my grocery spends to the bare bones for me, mind you I managed it last month, and I'm only spending on fuel, window cleaner and I have a 'treat' amount as well, I've only used my food money so far, even took a drink and sweets to the theatre!!
The allotment I do it by myself but I have it how I want it now, although it takes a lot of weeding etc. I really enjoy it and love being able to give veggies/fruit  to dds and provide for myself,  this year I have frozen lots to last me through the winter.

dgc67 - I do use a credit card normally for groceries and pay it off at the end of each month, and receive the points, but I've started using cash envelopes for a couple of months to really cut back on food spending. I do the same with my annual bills as well, because I have the money saved up front for them, so I can pay them off and get no interest. I'll look into Huyu I haven't heard of it.

Today has been a busy one for me. 2 loads of laundry done, dinner prepared and a cake baked, had lunch and went to the allotment, picked a load of veggies, watered and set to, to do some clearing of the overgrown end part. Had dinner, shower and just browsing on here!

    So I'll close

Iv loved reading your diary so far your grandkids are very lucky and your children that you don't let them pay at all even though it could help you. I bet they'd love to give you a little bit I can imagine my mum would be the same too.
I seen you have looked after a dog, a cat?! If I remember right and many children  you seem so helpful to everyone.
With the carpet maybe you could add into conversation you are looking to get one. I bet between your children they'd love to help out in some way and if you don't accept money maybe that could be a way they could help? It would probably make them feel better too that they can give you something.
