Potted tree to partially block view

Would something like a garden sail fit in the spot? Instant and complete screening.

Its not that the forum doesn't like the idea.., its just that the solution you propose can cause problems, there may be better ones around. If worried about screened window being opened, put a limiter on it so can only be opened an inch or so. The mind boggles at what you are so desperate to hide from some child's view lolol. A sensible explanation as to why this garden is so undesirable for the children to look at might actually be a better idea.3

Or just give them a different bedroom...3

I have a 2 meter high cherry in a pot in the garden - left by a previous occupant who obviously decided they either didn't want it or didn't want to pay to move it. The pot itself is at least a meter wide and tall. It's impossible to keep it watered adequately when it's summery and dry and the tree is obviously not thriving. I wonder if even rampant weed like leylandii would do well. You might try a large raise bed instead to give anything the depth and volume it requires.
Or you could mention it to the future neighbours and ask if they would like you to buy them something for their side of the fence...a large sail sort of thing springs to mind. If they are naturists or even sex addicts they may very well value their privacy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Is there a reason why you cant plant the tree in the ground? A tree that big will not do well in a pot.3
-
Might a buddleia (planted in the ground) grow tall enough in a couple of years? They do tend to expand and spread, but the flowers are nice and bees love them. Or you could try to get a nice climber to grow in front of the window. Getting a big tree to do well in a pot isn't easy (my much smaller dwarf plum tree seems to be dying in its large pot
) and at that height I'd worry about wind. You're at high risk of ending up with an ugly potted tree that keeps trying to die and needs loads of maintenance!
I think we all want to know what the view is
Is it something that suggests problem neighbours? If it's just them sunbathing naked or similar, I'd just ignore it... Children are unlikely to be traumatised, and will likely get bored of the view soon enough! 0 -
With children do you want an open window? I had to call my neighbour when I spotted her toddler leaning out if the bedroom window.bromine said:Thanks @sheramber and @Skiddaw1 but this would (i) obscure the entire view and (ii) won't work when the window is opened. The link in OP was just an example and I could use a different tree. I just want to gauge the opinion on the general idea, but it looks like this forum doesn't like it.
How big a tree are you thinking of buying. if it is already big enough to obscure the view how do you intend to get in into position?
If you are buying smaller it will take years to grow big enough.

Our neighbours used to parade around and sunbath as nature intended. I got a right eyeful most of the summer from my bedroom window. (I had that bedroom from age 8-18.) And the top of the climbing frame. Didn't scar me, just made me realise I wouldn't like to look that aged and brown all over by middle aged!
If it's something like that honestly it's not that much of an issue, prompted some conversations, but never bothered any of us.
If its worse than that then 🤷
But I have no ideas of how to block the view as you want.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0 -
How far from the house can this go? The further it can be the lower it can be too. Trees will grow in a big enough planter (eg https://www.factoryfurniture.co.uk/tree-planter/) but as mentioned above an automatic/hose watering system will be welcome.

The forklift channels allow for relocation even when planted.
Tells it own story. Is there room for a forklift to get in the garden and wjat would it cost?1
