Goldfinches - spare chocolate?? I would go collecting it but never advertise it, lol!!!
Still holding onto my last pound and determined to still have it in my purse on Tuesday night, pay day Wednesday.
Running low on t roll, but I have found some under the spare bed, I must have hid it during first lockdown so at least I have some if necessary. Thinking of doing something similar for my next pay period but may revise the amount a little, as I've been lucky to be able to dip into pantry stores if needed and I really would like a decent store ready for the winter months.

@nannygladys - congratulations on finding your stash of loo paper, it's moments like these that have you patting yourself on the back for your forethought.
I made a very careful meal plan yesterday and then wrote myself a shopping list and took it with me today to M*rks. Unfortunately, M*rks were playing their usual silly b****rs with stocks and particularly with the milk!
However, I bought non-organic milk, 600g cherry toms, 4 red peppers, carrots, y/s cauli stems, 2 corn on the cob, tinned chopped toms, tinned chickpeas, 2 y/s lemon and lime nets, cold pressed rapeseed oil, light olive oil, frozen petits pois, f/free greek style yoghurt, Maldon salt, and y/s cinnamon and honey butter for £21.96.
I still need garlic oil and radishes this week which I'll get tomorrow at Sainsby's and I'm either going to make my own lemon oil or delay purchasing that until I'm into September's budget plus I'll need to keep some money back for more milk and yoghurt on Weds.
My new total is £117.56/£124 and my average daily spend is £4.70."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Thanks for all the feedback
@joedenise I really like the idea of a Bulk Item fund .I will set one up.. Hope you enjoying your holidays. I was away for 5 weeks and it was great but hard to budget beyond the decided holiday spending money ...
@PipneyJane I used to just leave my extra grocery money and then add the normal amount.. but I am testing this removing the difference so I start each month with the same amt - well a revised amount as I am aiming to reduce my £200/month to £170 in September. My other funds eg future tech for phone and laptop replacements and clothing just keep being added to. I am looking to buy my home in the next few months so I may end up draining some of my pots then but I am resisting that now.
Aug 16th to 31st Groceries Challenge now £39.97 / £70
Spent £37.37 over the weekend on groceries.
I did a big lidl shop , a TOO GOOD TO GO Waitrose bag and some Coop treats and reduced items. So I have a full freezer (its only half sized) and lots of fruit and veg. I am hoping to thus not need to add anything til at least Friday.
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@goldfinches garlic oil is really easy to make too. Just bruise the garlic before you pop the cloves in the olive oil. I only use this as a dressing now as I always have garlic in the pot, and also grew some. Chilli oil is also very easy and if you started it now it will be lovely as Christmas presents in pretty bottlesSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

August's challenge will finish on Thursday for me and for the first time since I started doing this I will come in under budget by £17!! I am so excited I've actually managed it
I've joined the SW thread and this has helped massively with menu planning too. So as I'm on a roll I'm planning to update the freezer and cupboard inventories this week ready for September's challenge
