TalkTalk Fixed Price Price Increase

I'm surprised I can't find anyone commenting on the recent email from TalkTalk saying that they are going to increase the price of their Fixed Price contracts! Perhaps they sent them out in the early morning to crowded in boxes!
Has anyone else been told their Fixed Price deal will have a price increase applied in July? Of course I can leave without penalty because they have broken the contract but that isn't the point. They induced probably tens or even hundreds of thousands to join with the promise of 'absolutely no price increases - unlike other providers - throughout the whole term of the agreement'.
Then they make it as awkward and annoying as possible to leave so that most people give up!
I have reported them to Advertising Standards who have informed me that they are looking at this and other, similar adverts by TalkTalk already. I do encourage anyone in this situation to add their voice to the Advertising Standards data base so they can build up more evidence. In the meantime, you are allowed to leave without penalty.
I am also very surprised this has not come up on the MSE main site! Hmmmm......

I think there have been threads on MSE forum recently for broadband and mobile providers and I totally agree with your point. If a customer even changes their address, they are either forced to sign a new long term contract or pay moving fees to avoid paying the early termination charges because they signed a fixed term contract and can’t change/leave that contract without penalty yet the only concession these companies have to make to change contract terms is to give people option to end their contract early. I am with plusnet on a fixed amount contract and they haven’t raised the bill so I don’t have to go through that but I hope these companies are forced to compensate their customers financially just like customers have to pay early termination charges. When I last moved houses a year and half ago, I had 5 months to run on my talk talk contract and they couldn’t provide the same speeds on my new address due to line limitations and despite me agreeing to see out my contract on available speeds at new property, they asked me to either sign a new 18 months contract or pay the early termination fees as I was unilaterally “changing the contract terms” by moving houses and they just didn’t wanted to go through the trouble of moving houses process without me signing a new contract.0

Theres a thread on this board around 3 posts away from this one, with some success stories after contacting TalkTalk about this. Worth taking a read. I went from £24/mnth, looking at £2.50 increase to £26.50, to going to £21 when I telephoned them.Amazon Bar Raiser0
