    Hi Dipsy

Have you had any joy yet? Reason I'm asking is that I'm getting nowhere with them either and their Customer Services is absolutely diabolical. This is the 5th console I'm trying to get repaired! (See my own thread on MS)

  • Let me guess, your a MS fanboy!!? PS3 is the better console in both price, hardware and build quality:
    1. Firstly, when you factor in that the PS3 has a built in Blu Ray drive they cost about the same price.
    2. The PS3 is a more advanced machine in terms of the hardware i.e. processor, graphics card etc. FACT
    3. The PS3 failure rate is less than 1% compared the the 360 = 43% (case in point OP).
    4. The PS3 has free wireless online play, you have to pay £50 for the apdapter and £30 per year membership on the 360.
    5. The xbox hard drive, whilst bigger, has no room for expansion. The PS3 hard drive can be swapped out very easily with any 2.5" laptop drive (300gb costs about £60).
    6. The only thing the 360 has going for it at the minute is a larger selection of games simply because its been out for a year longer. This time next year the PS3 will have as good, if not better, selection of games.
Oh, and buy the way, I've had an Xbox 360 and the sold it when I got my PS3. The PS3 blew the xbox out of the water!

nope, not an anything fanboy but can see that whilst there are a wider range of games the xbox is a better buy even if the hardware isn't as impressive. If you're purely buying for the games it is also better value for money as, well, it's cheaper...

Well as long as your happy with your purchase thats all that matters. Have you owned a PS3 at all? The fact that I've had both consoles makes me more qualified to form a balanced opinion than you.....but this dicussions for another topic!
  • Wow crazy how this turns into a sony v microsoft war.

First of all, I found Microsoft support helpful. They sent the label to the email addy on my xbox live profile and it worked no problem.

Make sure it isn't going into your Spam inbox or anything like that? You could always create a new account at gmail with something easy like sendlabelhere@googlemail.com or something so there's no confusion on the phone....

As for Sony, don't think for a minute they'd be any different.

And as for the console war.. Its simple.. the 360 is better!!! In terms of price and selectivity of games. The PS3 is better if u want a long life console.. but for the next 4 years the 360 is fine.. byt hat time everyones bored and wants something new anyay :P

Its no good calling other users fanboys when you yourself are a Sony fanboy? And don't say your not. Any unbiased person would lay down pro's and con's for both consoles.. not JUST pro's for their own... that's being biased believe it or not *sigh*

Can I be bothered countering your points? meh just a few:

    1) The PS3 hardware is better. But how much of it is utilised? Then work out the price of the console if only the hardware utilised was on offer? I understand this makes it futureproof ahead of the 360 but it also makes it more costly... Remember that the 360 isn't using all its hardware capability either so thats got a good 3 years before it starts getting out-dated. I don't mind buying a console that lasts for 3 years either which has a better present game selection.

    2) Game selection is EVERYTHING. Even with the 360 I'm running out of things to play.. with the PS3 I'd be bored sh*tless by now. A console is nothing without the games. Its no good saying "in a year it will be better".. as people want to know what's best NOW. And what's best now? Well the console that's selling more... thats the 360. Which is clearly ahead of the PS3 as all the teccy websites including the well respected theregister.com reports.

    3) The hard-drive is a removable hard drive. How can you say there's no room for expansion on the 360?!?! *sigh*

    4) I may be wrong on this point but I know that in the past, the Xbox 360 has introduced now 1080p HD. Is the PS3 still using just 1080i? If so that's quite a big point when talking futureproof!

    5) The wireless adapter is an optional extra. I'd rather buy a PS3 £50 cheaper without wirelesss but guess there isn't a chance of that happening.

    6) Graphically, the Xbox 360 is currently as good as the PS3. No one is beating anyone on 1080i at the moment as HD is HD is HD realllly... and though the hardware maybe better, games are utilzing the same on both consoles...

There's always the other side to a story. Don't be so closed minded.

  • I don't own either and I'm not going to. The most obvious thing about the PS3 is that it's very hard to program for thus PS3 games are often delayed and suffer from graphic problems such as slowdown and poor frame rates when they do get released. Or so I've read.

Urgh this isn't true. The graphics card on the PS3 is a generation behind that of the xbox 360. The PS3 GPU is basically a Nvidia 7800 whereas the 360 is based on current ATI graphics card with double the memory (512Mb Vs PS3s 256Mb). For anyone in the know the 7800 series is fairly old tech by todays standards. Also the Cell is a !!!!! to program for. I'm sure the PS3 will do well once programmers get to grips with it but your above statement is an incorrect sweeping generalisation

Actually I have both sat in front of me - so seeing as you only have one now I believe that makes me more able to form a balanced opionion....

Bet your a real pleasure and the reason its dipsy FYI is after my daughters fav teletubby as was when she was younger, I think you are confusing dippy with dipsy you pleasant individual

    quote.... from wikipdia

    Dipsy (green)

(John Simmit): Male. He has a straight dipstick antenna on his head, hence his name. His favorite item to wear and carry with him is his black and white hat. Dipsy is the most obstinate of the characters, and will sometimes refuse to go along with the other Tubbies' group opinion. His face is also notably darker than the rest of the Teletubbies

oh and as the xbox 360 is so fab... .why after getting it back at 10am yesterday and played with for 3 hours by my son has it now got 3 red rings around it..... oh yes top console!!!!

and I have had cause to use Sony cust service and they were fab, took a PSP back and delivered a replacement at same time, apologised for it taking a week....... I have listed on this site to say their customer service was brilliant.

Have just spent 15 mins waiting for Microsoft to actually answer the phone and listening to the lady telling me I could do a repair online.... oh yes if I have an xbox live account.. which I don't/son doesn't...

get through and told to phone back in 2 hours time as systems are down...

oh well will have to call back in 2 hours again, if I can, not ideal when your in work!!!
