Ineos Grenadier - is it a rehashed LR Defender?

People weren't buying late Defenders as farm trucks.Goudy said:Though the data doesn't seem back that statement up.
Most last model Defenders have risen in valve over the last few years.
A 90 County spec is up by around 30%, but the plain old 110 "van" nearly 43%.
Though the higher spec 90 XS has depreciated and the 110 XS is only just holding it's ground.
Round here in the Welsh borders, the only Defenders in farm use are oldies - very few Pumas, mostly TD5s and 2.5s.
Anything modern with a sheep in the back is a steel-wheeled crewcab pickup. Isuzus, largely. There's still quite a few ancient Fourtraks, but I suspect they don't get much road use, IYSWIM...
Most Puma Defenders are shiny and alloy-wheeled.0 -
Perhaps.
Except the ones bought by the UN, Gas, Electricity, Telecoms companies, Oxfam, The Red Cross and other NGO's, Tusk, The RGS, The Police, Mountian Rescue, The Carabinieri and a whole host of other customers around the world.

They weren't buying many, either. They'd all moved on.Goudy said:Perhaps.

Someone better tell Land Rover or all these humanitarian and conservation programs as both they and Land Rover are all still quoting they are in partnership.
Some have been in partnership with Land Rover for over 60 years.

And I'm sure they were and are. That doesn't mean they were still buying "proper" Defenders in any commercially viable volume in the early 2010s, though...Goudy said:Someone better tell Land Rover or all these humanitarian and conservation programs as both they and Land Rover are all still quoting they are in partnership.

After all, that page talks about JLR making donations and grants, not about sales volumes.
And... One of the charities linked to is Tusk.
Another is the Red Cross.
It's one thing to accept donations, it's another to buy what's best-suited for the locale.
