How can I easily close my TSB accounts?

  • Yes, I should have mentioned that you can only close one account using chat. I don't know if you can go on and close another at a later date.
I was able to log on to the phone app and my online account at the same time so had the info I needed in front of me.

Just logged onto the app, and the account I asked to be closed has gone!!

    That was quick!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

  • I'm grateful to sparkiemalarkie for pointing out that savings accounts can be closed via 'chat' in the app.  It's a bot and once you enter the phrase 'close account' it follows a script.  I've closed three accounts today.  Proceeding cautiously I did one at a time, waiting until I could see that each had been closed before starting on the next.  It took less than half an hour from ending the 'chat' to the account being closed.

Just checked on the Lloyds app on the off chance that they did similar, but it directs you to the website where only certain types of savings accounts can be closed.

Shame.  I've got 5 of them need closing too.  I'm sure I've already tried on-line, but will retry tomorrow.

The app chat bot appears very similar, probably a hangover from their previous connection to TSB.

I'm doing the TSB chat bot now. I love the "Is your account balance equal to or greater than 1m", I wish :D

Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."

On the Lloyds website it's very easy to close most savings accounts - MORE ACTIONS - ACCOUNT SERVICES - CLOSE ACCOUNT.

I've just done that now, thanks.    I'm sure when I'd tried before it told me they were unable to close these accounts on-line?  Anyway it's done now.

2nd TSB requested as closed, via chat-bot.
