I have heard from my "Work coach" again - with the news that I suspected - that DWP fail to follow Equal Ops rules - she repeated that I should phone ESA - despite being aware of my disability
I can see a complaint coming - not that it will change anything

They have a textphone option and a relay UK option..

Can your work coach not check to see if you have a credits only claim? I don't know what level of access a work coach has to view a benefit claim but I would have thought he or she could access something as basic as whether benefit is actually in payment rather than whether a claim is NI credits only.

I'm curious, how you are you in contact with your work coach?  I know UC is online but didn't think ESA was - would be good if they've finally caught up with the digital age now!

Email - I was given an email address from the start - it's a UC address but is "read" by the work coach

It appears that I will receive CLASS 1 NI credits - which then appears to provide me with the necessary to claim ESA after a couple of years !

Not on its own. The credit sonly satisfy one of the conditions. In one of the two tax years they look at you do need to have worked for 26 weeks.
