I'm sure you worked for a regulated debt collector and had rules to follow.
No, this was the internal collections team before the debt was sold to external collectors for 5p/£1

We did have rules to follow but those were more aimed at maximizing recovery than writing off debts. A lot of people starting in the role would be referring every case because they felt compassion for the caller but it only takes a few cases in the first day or two where you can show them that people are recycling excuses all the time that they become more cynical and stop referring offers of £1 per week indefinitely on the £5,000 bill they've run up in the last couple of months.

It is the opposite in the parking scam. The parking company cannot sell the debt onwards.
So instead of selling a debt for 50p in the pound.  They use a 50p piece paper and try to turn it into £160

Big difference to your job which is needed, we are dealing with raw animals who are scammers .....

... according to UK MPs across all parties. Other derogatory descriptions of PPCs by our MPs are available.

But again, I am not defending the company I am saying the person that has the crapy job of working in one of their call centres is really not to blame for their job or the fact that spending 6+ hours a day of people threatening you, calling you names, telling blatant lies etc does ultimately impact the call handlers and the fact they are "cold" and make another poster cry is actually understandable on a human level.

50p in the pound? Was more like 5p.

I was over generous with the 50p,

The clowns that call themselves debt collectors in the scam parking industry don't have call centres, they just use a press button X service.  Imagine an office with 3 desks.  On desk 3 is a chick who is clueless and passes it on to her supervisor on desk 2 ..... her drinking mate ???  and so on ....

This is nothing like what you are used to, and you talk about abuse ....  the clowns like DRP and ZZPS abuse people like there is no tomorrow

Have you seen the letters these low life send out, a search on here will show you.

The debt collection industry will always attract threats
In the parking industry scam, it's not the person owing money that makes threats ... it is the idiot debt collectors like DRP and ZZPS who make threats they simly cannot carry out

That is why the government has a new code of practice which no doubt you will support

Are we talking about people who work for un regulated dodgy companies?
Yes, people who could well be single parents who are told if they don't take the job or voluntarily quit the job their benefits will be sanctioned etc.

Having done most the bottom end call centre jobs (didn't get to work in one of the forementioned indian call centres though) in my time 95% of people are there because they don't have any other choice or they are students and because employee churn is so high they are more tolerant of poor attendance etc.

Last job before moving into insurance was cold call telesales, on any given day 30% of the student workforce didn't turn up and most without notice.

I'm Lucky in that I've not been told to take a job, however if I found myself working for a PPC so called debt recovery company, under threat of having no money i would try and help and reassure those on the other end of the line and let them know all about private parking companies

The below would be the hypothetical scenario
