The transfer out charge of ten days interest is cheeky, but a negligible drawback I think when weighed against the high rate of interest paid on this account. The only awkward thing, I suppose, would be if you wanted to transfer out your entire savings during the first ten or eleven days of October in any given year (1st October being the date when interest is paid annually), as there may not be enough accrued unpaid interest to cover the charge.0 -
Hi. Going slightly off-line on this thread, but some advice needed!
I have £9000 saved - putting towards house deposit. As I am unsure when I will be able to get a house, probably not til the end of the year at the earliest, where is the best place to put my money?
Which option is the best to go for:
(i) Online saver account - just transferred it to Nationwide - 5.00% Gross/AER
(ii) ISA of some description
Which is of the most benefit to me?
Many thanks.0 -
I would bung three grand in a decent isa account and the rest in an online saver account. If you do get a house this year, are you likely to put any fund into the account? If so then put less in the Isa and more in the instant saver, otherwise you can not put any money into your ISa account until April '06Olympic 2007 challenge Started 9 Jan 2007[strike]Aim Silver 2007.00[/strike] Aim Gold 3007.00 Achieved so far:782

Cadboll, have you thought about killing 2 birds with one stone ?
Britannia do a Homesaver account which is currently offering 5.04 NET. I realise of course that it restricts your ultimate choice of mortgage provider and I cannot comment on that Society's mortgage reputation or indeed anyones as I am a mortgage virgin ! Just a thought.0
