If you pay it now (and do not agree to a payment plan) it will be marked as "satisfied" but will remain on your credit record for 6 years and trash your ability to obtain credit.  Your best option now is to apply for a set-aside, which when/if granted (usually without actually having to go to court but at worst a telephone hearing) you will then be able to defend the original case.  Check the NEWBIE sticky second post and look at the set aside examples, also read some posts by @henrik777 as he is the forum guru about this issue.  You will require a N244 form and the facts as given to you in the letter you have shown.

Do the above, paying it will wreck your credit record ( as stated above)

What do you want to know about your credit?

@BlondeyEMMA, this is the first post you have made on the Parking Board.
Do you have a parking issue you would like help with?
If so, can I suggest you start a new thread and ask pertinent questions there?

hi so would you say that the bailiff wont come, what about my credit?
You have posted a new thread with no details - just a one liner - and on the wrong forum:

Please, please, please, just post a new thread with FULL details about the parking firm and car park and what letters you have, but post on this parking forum.

Why do you think its appropriate to call me an idiot? My point I was making on my post was my pcn seemed legit as I was over the time on my ticket. Sadly I read to many posts on these kind of websites and it said all scammers they cant do anything sadly they can. I think people should be careful with the advice they give and do not resprt to name calling. Over the last couple of days we have seen too many trolls and nasty people online. Be nice!

I think the word gullible or uninformed would have been better than the word idiot.
I would use that word for people who pay a powerless debt collector, or people who pay when they receive a PCN for parking on their own demised parking place, as opposed to people who have done their research and know the facts.

The advice to ignore a PCN or that these scammers can't do anything has never been given here since the law changed in 2012.

    Always check the facts.

Unregulated parking companies have been able to pursue a vehicle keeper since our stupid government allowed someone who was not in the vehicle at the time to be made liable, thanks to the lies told to them by parking companies and the BPA.

It is at our devolved governments (except NI), at the unregulated parking companies referred to as rogues, scammers, and bloodsuckers by UK MPs across all parties and all nations, and their ATAs, and at landowners who don't do their homework against whom the vitriol of motorists should be aimed, not at the handful of volunteers on forums like this one who give up their time and knowledge for free to help others, every day of the year, and who get frustrated at people who just pay up because they haven't done their research properly.

Not if you know how to deal with this horrific industry.  Luckily, the Government has now stepped in and change is coming to stop people paying extortionate sums of money that they don't have to pay.

I have searched the whole thread and the only three instances of the word "idiot" are yours in the post quoted and one where it was quoted by @Fruitcake and his where he states that the word might have been used incorrectly but as far as I can see, no one has called you an idiot.  I am prepared to be proved wrong if you can point me to the post.

C-m edited her post about 2 hours after Arty's. I suspect "badly underinformed" was expressed differently previously. ;)
