Free sim card for Huawei tablet

Hi techie friends.
I have inherited a tablet as described above, and formatted, set it up for myself.
Is it possible to get a free sim? I would prefer 02 (priority stuff) then just run it on wifi. I need the phone number on the sim to run another app on wifi.
I realise this may be a silly question and I have tried Googling/Youtubing etc.
Thanks for any advice given.

Is it one which takes a sim ? - less common than wi-fi only tablets

I think a THREE  sim might be better - generally lasts longer without any top up, but will need an initial £5 min ( i think)

They used to offer a 3-2-1 plan - but recently upped prices now it 10-10-5

I have a O2 sim on 3-2-1 plan  - but think they stopped it for new users

You need the number for WhatsApp presumably

  • Hi, thank you for your reply.
    Yes it takes a Sim.
    I will look at Three.
    Yes for WhatsApp.
Going to look at three now .....

No need for a SIM just for whats app. You can run in the browser on tablet, you just need to have the mobile phone on beside it

Here's how to view WhatsApp in a web browser:
Open your PC, laptop or tablet browser and head to web.whatsapp.com. On an Android phone open WhatsApp, tap the three dots at the top right and choose WhatsApp web. On an iPhone start WhatsApp, tap the settings icon at the bottom left and choose WhatsApp web/desktop.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes I know this and I run it on several devices (one at a time as it allows) using the phone as a repeater. The thing is that I don't have a mobile phone at the moment, so I need a sim for the tablet.

No need to top up to get the free data.
Min top up if you need to is £2,

1p/MB  when the 200MB runs out..

Some including me have had to fiddle a bit to get them registered properly in phones..

Couple of threads in the mobile section have some details.

O2 classic 321 sims are a still around on ebay(I got 2 for 20p delivered good till Dec), activated one this morning to port a 3 number over.

Can someone confirm that the recent 3 data Rewards sim still allows calls and texts in a phone
I know originally it operated just like the 3-2-1 sim + 200mb data but the later material on web from 3 now points to it being data only  ?
Given they have recently raised costs from 3-2-1 to 10-10-5 - you could see the logic to them of killing of voice and txts on the data reward sim ?

I am not happy, after all that the sims don't fit in the tray, on the left is SD card area, on right a space that would not fit any size of sim I have been sent.... and so it goes on :( will be so glad when I get my phone back
