Olly you are a bit confused, I opened my account with £195 in CASH. Also I had the info letter and everything else posted to me, nothing was printed out for to give to me. Sounds like my bank has done a few things wrong then?0

Someone put me onto this:
http://www.bankingcode.org.uk/
Advised me to tell them if the matter is not resolved in 24 hours I will have to make a complaint. Just thought Id include this link for others in a similar position.0 -

That's certainly what it looks like from what you're saying...0 -

Darich, I didnt know an account HAD to be opened with cash, thats good news too.
There is no requirement to open a business account with Lloyds with a deposit. Indeed, some businesses would find it isnt possible if they are still in the set up stage.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

The bank as mrtg0525 said have clearly done things wrong as they should have given you at least a receipt.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
This is exactly why banks have receipts etc
If you didnt get one or lost the details then your at the banks mercy as if there systems dont bail you out you have zero proof you paid it in
Even showing you were at the bank etc wouldnt be enough
It will teach you to get proper receipts in future0 -
No advice, but a story
My dad deposited £2000 into Lloyds about 15 years back, and as his book was in the machine, there was a power outage.
Don't ask me why, but he didn't bother to check his book! He realised the next day, went back, but they said there was no proof of him depositing it, even though the woman behind the counter was working the next day and vouched for him!
Just be glad it isn't £2000!0 -
if you paid in cash I would get them to look at the security video. this should show u being dealt with by the cashier even if they can't see exactly what u handed over. I work in a bank & usually our credits are posted straight away, but not for new accounts, altho we would provide a receipt. Saying the computer is busy sounds like an excuse to me. Either the cashier wasn't competent or something else is going on. Unfortunately not everyone who works for banks are longserving & trustworthy.0

Jacky, thanks. They rang me back before closing time and asked if they could wait till the staff member in question was in work, the soonest of which will be wednesday. I said thats fine, I also asked that surely they was cameras that would have caught it all and they agreed.
BPD, £2000!!! OMG, yes you are right it could be worse, and thats awful! I would be angry for months if that were me.
Olly, thanks too0
