  • Eek to potentially finding £1200!

Best of luck with the interview decision. DH is probably feeling more sensitive because you did get an interview...

  • Thanks @savingholmes. DS has said he doesn't want to go on the trip, which is fine, but I just hope he doesn't com to regret his decision later.

Haven't heard anything following the job interview yet. I'd like to get an offer, but I win't be too disappointed if I don't. The last few weeks have made me realise that I think I've been more ill than I've realised and I've been running on empty for a long time. I need to recuperate and get myself back on an even keel again and I don't really know how to do that and keep working at the same time. In the past I haven't been able to manage it.

Applied for another £200 CoL payment for my Dad, which launched yesterday. He still hasn't heard anything about his blue badge yet.

Still no early pay for DH, so we're still stretching out the last of our money. DH listed two items on FB marketplace last night for £10 each, no takers yet. DS has drums tonight and I also need to buy a birthday present.

The new hob and the kitchen window are arriving today, only a radiator left to buy and that's everything for the kitchen. The fitter turned up last night and said he'll get a price by the end of the day. I'm not holding my breath.

    Right I think that's all.

  • I heard back from the job interview and it was a no. I'm a bit disappointed but not surprised. They said they'd be in touch again as they were impressed with some of my ideas, so I don't know what that means, potential a small amount of freelance consultancy work? I don't know.

Anyway, all our deliveries turned up in the end with only a small amount of faffing on the part of one of the delivery guys. It also seems that we have at last found a kitchen fitter and he says he can start next week. I'm not holding my breath to be honest, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if he turns up.

If you feel you are running on empty you probably are. You sound a lot like me in that regard - as in the past I've pushed myself to breaking point. It's a shame you didn't get the new role - but if it gives you an opportunity to recuperate that may be a good plan for now.

Have you ever come across the book The Way of Integrity? by MBeck. You may like it. It has a lot to say about the dangers of saying yes to the wrong things and not following our inner knowing... I've found it helpful in setting better boundaries. Mel Robbins also has a great series of audio books it could be worth looking at. Some include live coaching sessions which I got a lot from.

  • The company emailed last night to offer me a limited piece of consultancy work for which they'll pay me £500. I'm going to accept, because you never know what else it will lead to further down the line. Also, £500 will replace 1 month of lost earnings from 2nd job.

I listed our current kitchen on FB marketplace yesterday for £500 and there's someone coming tonight to have a look at it. I need to give it a good clean before they come, especially the cooker and extractor fan. I'd be happy to negotiate on the price, especially as the alternative is the cost and hassle of us taking it to the tip. No nibbles on the items DH listed.

I somehow managed to pull a muscle just before bed last night and now much shoulder is painful with limited mobility. I'm meant to be driving to a meeting later so I hope some painkillers and deep heat will do the trick.

Still resisting the lure of the heating even though the mornings are getting colder. The woodburner is worth its weight in gold at the moment because it means we can have one toasty warm room heated for free.

So happy its pay day tomorrow, even if we won't have much scope to overpay or send to savings.

  • Morning, money savers and mortgage slayers,

We've done the money hokeycokey, everything in and everything out in the blink of an eye, although the mortgage payment hasn't credited yet and that always bugs me.

I reduced the price of the kitchen to £400 and now there's been quite a bit of interest. No takers yet though.

We've got a friend coming over today to help install the new window in the kitchen, DH expanded the opening yesterday and dropped the cill, fingers crossed it all goes according to plan. The gas is being disconnected tomorrow then the kitchen fitter and the electrician are coming on Tuesday.

I signed up to Swagbucks to try and get the extra £20 Amazon voucher that is being plugged on MSE at the mo, but I'm not enjoying it at all and I'm not sure I'll be able to get to the 1200 points needed in a month. I'll keep trying but my patience is quite short these days.

Right, must crack on with a few jobs.

I couldn't get on with Swagbucks either!
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!
  • I've also given up with Swagbucks, used to be able to make quite a bit from them but over the past couple of years they have become awful and not worth the effort. There are much better survey sites out there.

Good luck with selling your old kitchen.

Hope the fitter arrives as planned for the new one.
