    Glad you are resting.

Sounds like you are burned out and need to press pause for a while. I have been there. You don't become well by just trying to power through. I did find reducing sensory overload helped and monitoring what I watched or listened to so it was uplifting

  • So Saturday - at last! This week feels like its been nine days long and if I'm honest I haven't even been that busy. I did go to the shop and cook tea last night (roast dinner) though so that's something.

Nice weather here again today so I'll try and get through the washing and dry as much of it outside as possible. The kids both have horseriding and DD is helping in the stables all day. DS has his drum exam this morning and all my body parts are very much crossed for him as he has worked hard for it.

My Dad is coming over later, he wants me to update the sat nav on his car and also set up his new sim card which has arrived. He brought over the new windscreen wipers yesterday and they fit (third time lucky) so its quid pro quo and I can't really grumble even if the sat nav job is a pain.

I've been offered an interview for the job I applied for, which I'll accept, but which I don't really think I stand a chance of getting.  Its on the same day as my friend's funeral, which will require a significant mental change of gear.

DH and I are still mulling over the best course of action with the kitchen. The electrician quote really threw us and they're not the only trade we need. We did have one firm quote us £17,000 back in June for everything, including work upstairs and now I'm back to thinking maybe that's not such a bad idea after all, if only as far as the stress is concerned. We've agreed to think about it for the 3-day weekend and see how we both feel on Tuesday.

Right, that's all I think. Have a great weekend money savers.

It sounds like there's lots going on. Keep being kind to you - and not just to others.

  • Sorry about your friend. Could you ask to move the interview? As a recruiter I’d move it for a funeral and would rather someone ask than not get the best out of them. X

  • Thanks @savingholmes and @powerspowers.

Quite a relaxed day at PBS towers today. We did another run to the tip and picked up 4 more pallets which DH chopped up for firewood. Tonight we lit the woodburner for the first time as it was a bit chilly and it was really lovely for the four of us to snuggle up in front of it and watch a film.

I tidied the shed, which was absolutely awful. There was quite a bit of junk in there and now everything is neatly arranged and there's loads more space. I've piled stuff up either for the tip or the scrap man, depending on how organised we are.

DD has the orthodontist tomorrow, and then the rest of the week is looking medium busy.

I still haven't listed anything on FB marketplace yet, I might try to get around to it tomorrow.

    Stay safe out there moneysavers.

Feeling quite a sense of achievement after the weekend. Ahead of any possible work upstairs DH and I swapped the kids bed around so that DS has the loft bed with the desk and built in wardrobe and DD has the single that can be easily moved should we going ahead with altering her room.

We also sorted out three kitchen cupboards ahead of the new kitchen installation and also did some tidying in the garden.

I started Christmas shopping and bought two books for DS with an Amaz0n voucher so no spend there. We also found a £25 gift card we had forgotten about that we can put towards DD's birthday in October.

The CB hit the account today.

I have the first of 6 free counselling sessions for my depression later and DH is working a late until 21:30.

Trying to minimise stress so I have pushed the interview and another meeting back to next week for a bit of breathing space.

    Morning world!

DH ended up working until 10pm, he was stressed afterwards. I feel for him, the only silver lining is that the meetings (which are lasting three days) are taking place in NYC and he put his foot down and insisted on joining via zoom instead so at least he gets to be with us the rest of the time and sleep in his own bed.

Turns out the Dr gave me the wrong info and I didn't in fact have counselling yesterday, but a consultation with the mental health nurse. It was fine, but felt a tiny bit pointless. Still, I walked to the surgery and back in the sunshine and change DD's library books so it was okay.

I cooked a new recipe last night ( a sort of vegetable and noodle soup) which turned out lovely and there is enough left over for dinner again tonight.

A different electrician came yesterday and has emailed us a much more reasonable quote, much closer to what I was expecting. Project DIY might be back on after all. DH and I are going to discuss it later.

    So, today. I have a few things to do;

    • Pick up prescription
    • Call opticians to check DDs contact prescription
    • Return item to ASDA for £8
    • Top up car at cheap filling station
    • Take DS to drums
If I get through that lot, as well as work and kid wrangling, my day will be a success.

  • Strange day today. Tried to be productive but felt like I was wading through fog, fell asleep again and had a 1hr45m nap, I literally couldn't keep my eyes open. I took an iron tablet with lunch in case its a recurrence of anaemia and I'll try to make sure to take them more regularly.

Walked to the doctors, picked up my prescription and got it filled and also bought two more school jumpers. Phoned the opticians and checked DD's prescription (it was correct), returned item to Asda for a gift card and got some groceries which I had to add 46p towards after spending the gift card. Took DS to drums, which he enjoyed. We had last night's left over for dinner so that was easy.

I didn't top the car up because the app that shows where the cheapest diesel is being sold, said the cheap garage has gone up by 3p, so I'll have a look around tomorrow on my travels.

Did some Tilly Tidies to the mortgage, £4.15p in total. Also cancelled two small monthly Direct Debits of £3.95 and £2.50. Not massive in the scheme of things but it will add up over the year. DH also phoned Vodafone and tried to negotiate on our broadband but it was a no because we still have ages to go on our contract.

Currently got the woodburner on to take the chill off the air.

    Hope everyone is doing okay.

It sounds like you need to push to be signed off longer rather than going back to work... Not sure if it was you I read whose GP had refused another sick note. If you can't stay awake - that can be a symptom of depression - but it's worth getting your bloods done for iron, vitamin B etc just to make sure there is no organic cause.

I'd love a woodburner.... I find looking at fire very soothing.
