Putting balance onto your card deliberately is, the accidental one from say a refund or BT isn'tborn_again said:

I had a couple of hundred as a balance, I'm now £900+ in credit, that's what I'm trying to get back.born_again said:I take it that you had a balance on the AMEX card? That is now £1K less than before.
I would be surprised if it went to pay the balance that they would consider refund it, even if made in error.
>>> It's my money after all <<<
Not once it has gone to pay a debt owed.
Only option would be to raise a complaint & see how it goes.
Should not be a problem, as a credit balance is usually against the T/C.

To update, I've just had my 3rd chat with them. I finally asked to speak to a manager then got cut off, funnily enough. Last week I was told the matter would be treated as urgent, obviously it hasn't been. Today I got the 'up to 10 working days' story again, which was the starting point 3 weeks ago. Appalling.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Here's a direct email to the execs office at Amex. Try that - you'll usually get a UK based manager respond if you leave your phone number too - theexecutiveoffice@aexp.com

Your "nuclear" option would be to threaten to close the card as upon closing the account they would need to refund you any positive balance, although I suspect that the retention team might have a be able to assert a bit more pressure to get this resolved.!!!!!!_here said:To update, I've just had my 3rd chat with them. Was this Amex a credit card or charge card?0 -
Just a normal credit card. I'll certainly be closing my account after this !MattMattMattUK said:

I got a credit recently after a flight refund.
They asked me for my bank details over the phone (I was actually nervous in case there could be an error).
They sent me a link to upload a bank statement.
I uploaded it (was relieved they were checking the details were correct).
I got my credit very quickly - days.
Not bragging just telling the process I went through.0 -
Yes, that's pretty much what's happened to me, but getting the refund is not happening still. Good for you of course, that's how it should be for us all.lisyloo said:I got a credit recently after a flight refund.

Having today received a second letter telling me what I have done wrong I have now used that email address. Let's see what happens now, thanks for the address.funkycredit said:Here's a direct email to the execs office at Amex. You’d probably be easier just using the card to pay for groceries, petrol and everything you can until the £900 is spent.
