Not sure what you mean, poppet.
I mentioned (as someone else had) about Task Manager. @Neil_Jones implied that only msconfig should be used, and you agreed (in a manner that was condescending towards myself). I've asked for clarification as to WHY ... all I've received is another condescending response. How about educating people rather than belittling them?Jenni x1 -
Thanks for all the advice & replies, much appreciated, I'll be on when I can, and please don't bicker, be nice to each other, there's no need for it, this is a forum for help, not hate1

How about educating people rather than belittling them?Perhaps it wasn't clear what I was getting at when I posted a screenshot of msconfig.Msconfig does still work in Windows 10 but you can't use it to disable the start-up programs (in previous versions of Windows up to and including Windows 7 the start-up tab showed you a list of programs, but in 10 (and Windows 8 before it) you only get the message to say go to Task Manager). You can disable services with msconfig (these start up with Windows as well) but that's potential fatal if you disable a key Windows component by accident.1 -
Apologies if I've missed any screenshots ... I'm connected via my work's VPN at the moment and I can't see any screenshots in this thread.
Edit: I'm now connected using my own laptop and can see the screenshot from @Neil_Jones ... that does make sense.
Perhaps when posting images a text comment should accompany it so that others realise that there's an image there? I'm sure I can't be alone in not seeing some images at times.Jenni x1 -

I've asked for clarification as to WHY ... all I've received is another condescending response. How about educating people rather than belittling them?As Neil_Jones indicated you can access startup via msconfig as I suggested. All you've got to do is click on the task manager link and it takes you to where you want to go. Like a lot of Windows facilities, there's usually more than one way to get where you want to go.I was being condescending because not being a mind-reader I was unaware you couldn't see his screenshot showing quite clearly the task manager link. I was also a bit scratchy after another contributor who contributed nothing apart from negativity wound me up. I hope that clears things up.2 -
Weasel-words apology accepted.
