how can this be allowed to happen.....the same has happened to me. Luckily only since July as I check my bank statements every now and then. If this is happening to so many people then surely they are doing something wrong ( or right in their case) to be getting people to sign up for something they dont know about. They cannot send me proof i signed up and i have never received an email from them stating that I have joined etc
It's simple, not breaking any regulations & sadly people not looking at what they agreeing too.

You make a purchase at a retailer. When you complete purchase you get offered a discount (usually a odd amount) on a future purchase. When you click on this. You are agreeing to the shoppers discount subscription (It is very clear in the box you click on) you also get a email about this at the time & just before they take the funds. So check Spam/Junk folders, as they often end up in there.

Good thing about this company is they are good at refunding people. 👍 Even give you a freephone number to call.
    Life in the slow lane
  • This is an annoying and still active effectively a bit of a scam; as I got stung from this after the trainline website/app stuffs this 'get money back' down your throat - a lot!
I thought I was getting a refund for a late train, and then they apply this charge after 30 days as I apparently signed up for a voucher scheme - which I would never knowingly do.
They have cancelled it quickly to be fair on contact with WLY*COMPLETESAVE.C, and HSBC have said I should get all my money back as it was just a few months when I reported to them. The bank know of the operator and have it listed as a common 'fraud' activity (event though its not fraud but its probably a technicality in how the contract and subscription is approved by stealth), and they can peg onto your account after shopping at normal sotres to such as iceland and ocado following my chat with the HSBC help desk....(another story!!)
I check my accounts quite often so I was suspicious of this, and hopefully now it is sorted.
I think they probably make money by just generally hoping people dont notice this, or question this.
Maybe cost of living will make people scrutinse a bit more whats going out.

Basically watch out for this -as of Feb 2023 it is still going strong!  :/
