Three years to get debt free

  • Morning,

I’ve done something different this morning and it feels a bit weird. Since April last year whenever I’ve got up, I’ve got dressed immediately and started my day. I did it because I was finding it was getting to midday and I was still on the sofa in my pjs having achieved nothing. This morning, I’ve got up and made a cup of tea and brought it back to bed. I’m watching TV but I’m in bed!

All big bills are out and my bank is appalling. Well into my overdraft. I’m not so annoyed at myself this month though. I will be frustrated when a percentage of my wages will pay for my overdraft though as effectively you’re starting the month on a deficit. It’ll mean less debt paying. I will be able to clear it if a couple of the big items sell, but I’m not holding out tons of Hope as they are niche things. It just brings it back that I still need to budget excessively and I’ve not been. I will need to pay off a lot of debt when I get paid though as it’s now on the credit card and this drastically needs reducing.

My childminder is off in September for just over a week. This has caused difficulties as my back up is also off at the same time. I’ve managed to cover it with family so that will be just over £100 saving, which will cover a percentage of my overdraft but really should be extra for debt busting.

A quiet day planned today. I’ve been aching the last few days as the weather changes so I might do some research into what I can get people for Xmas. X

  • Afternoon,

My toes are peeling! finally, it seems to have started to work. It's not excessively peeling just a little bit.

After waking up and seeing how bad my bank was (I did know it was going to be bad) I was in that state of I don't want to look denial that I think so many people can relate to. Anyway, I have gone back to the click and collect shop that I know keeps me in check. Interesting that I can walk round a shop and spend between £40-£60 yet I struggle to put £25 in the basket on a click and collect order. I am just over £25 with 25p pick and pack for the time I can get it. This includes a box of roses for Christmas which is on clubcard price of £3.50. I might as well start to get things and then put them all away.

I had to move myself away though quite quickly as they had a soft bedding set on their offer for half price. I am a bit of a bedding hoarder and have more sets than I really need. I do have one of those fleece soft bedding sets already so this isn't needed. Glad I moved away and then had a think about it. I absolutely do not need it.

I forgot I had £84 coming to me on Saturday. That will mean I am not as bad as initially thought, still bad though.

I got a reminder from the gym club DD attends too. The annual insurance and annual club membership is due. That is another £40. I will wait until payday for that.

I have been tracking where I let it go this month and it wasn't so much the holiday (I had budgeted right for that). It was the impromptu weekend, a competition that DD wants to enter that I wasn't aware of, the takeaway and buying some bike pants that didn't fit and having to replace them. The bike pants couldn't be sent back as they were a selling site so I have had to relist them and so far they haven't sold. All of that is the collective reason. I'm glad I have faced it though so I can see what has happened and where it went wrong and put plans in place to stop that again.

Coffee yesterday was lovely. It was nice to catch up with my friend and spend time with someone who is really positive. I spoke to them on the phone earlier as well. I have a few lovely people surrounding me at the minute. I have spoken to several of them over the last few days and it has been nice to catch up.

DD has cheerleading tonight, once that is done, I will be coming home, bath and relax time. The weather seems to have perked up a little now.

  • Have you noticed that when you face these things head, it’s never as bad as you think? I mean things can be really bad, but it’s always better than staying in that head in the sand mode, isn’t it?

It’s taken a while for your feet to start doing something hasn’t it?

I’ve started putting things away for Christmas too. The savoury stuff is okay but the chocolate biscuits…….. it will take some willpower to leave them alone!

Yeah I find it’s better to face it than not, but it’s still a grim month!

I was pondering whether I’d eat them or not but think I’ll risk it 😂. I’m hoping I gain willpower.

It’s taken ages for my feet to do anything. It’s not dramatic just a little bit in certain places. I don’t know what I was expecting but possibly more than the odd bit.

I will start buying presents in September too. Need to get them paid for x

  • Put it behind you. It was a grim month and, hopefully, the next one will be better.

I’m starting to buy presents this month too (I can’t quite get my head round the fact it IS September now!). I’m also going to make a couple of presents for my daughter’s baby. It might not work out cheaper, in the end, but it will be fun. I hope ;)

I know. Where has August gone?
I have a couple of birthdays in Oct, including mine and then it’s Christmas!

The next one will be better. It will be as I make it x

Unexpected surprise tonight. I got flowers, chocolates and Prosecco off my sister. I’ve been helping her with childcare and dog care. I didn’t mind as it was easy for me to do and I asked if she needed help. I told her I didn’t need anything for it but it was a lovely surprise. She is helping me out in a few weeks with DD so I wasn’t expecting anything. She’s also had DD if I’ve needed to sort something.

What a nice surprise from your sister, shows how much she appreciates you.

The first foot peel I tried was great and took loads of skin off. The next one I tried a few months later made no difference. Wish I’d noted the name of the first one.

I’m glad you’ve got some positive people in your life, that’s what we all need right now.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

    Thanks Sun,

yes, it does show she appreciated the help.

I’ve seen foot peels with amazing results. Sadly this wasn’t one of them 😂

  • Good morning,

My last work day off work 😱 where has the 6 weeks gone!

I’m currently enjoying a cup of tea in the garden watching the rabbits and listening to the birds. Life can be incredibly beautiful if we sometimes stop and take it in. I’ll need to remember that over the next few months when I’m trying to support some of our students!

More bills are coming out and I’ve realised I’m not on top of when everything comes out. DD has some new clubs and they aren’t the standard 1st of the month. I really need to be looking at this as my previous predictions aren’t accurate anymore.

    Have a lovely day everyone.
