Energy bill just hit. I’ve recently increased from £47 to £62. Now they are asking for £97 a month.

My child maintenance, wages or child benefit aren’t increasing, but all my other bills are. Not sure how I can keep managing with the increases. Food , fuel, energy and DD’s clubs have all gone up.

I don’t think the companies know how much to charged. I’m £175 in credit they have changed my bill to £142 a month but says this will leave me in debit so I should amend by direct debit to £162, makes me wonder why they haven’t changed my direct debit 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had another email. Another of DD’s club increasing  their prices. Another £6 a month. Doesn’t seem like much, but when they’ve all gone up, plus all my bills, it’s getting a lot more a month. X

    Morning,

Its turned rainy here today. It’ll be good for the grass and plants though. I’m sat enjoying a coffee in the conservatory listening to the rain on the roof, such a calming sound.

Yesterday I read a book by my favourite author. I’ve had it since last year and I usually devour her books in a couple of days of getting them but I’ve not been able to pick this up as I’ve just not felt like reading.

    Windscreen replacement tomorrow!
Have a lovely day everyone x

Sorry to hear about your windscreen going, why do these things happen at the most awkward time 🙄 I'm the same as you with my garden, having chickens has trashed the middle section of my garden but I do have my patio which is on a lower level. I can't see the rest of the garden when I'm sitting on the patio so I concentrate on prettifying the patio and pretty much ignore the rest of it with minimal maintenance.
I have now decided that once the chickens have gone to the big coop in the sky I'm not having anymore but the ground where they have been will be super fertile so I'm going to grow veg etc on there instead. It's had 11 years worth of chicken poop and them scratching the soil so should be good for growing I hope.

Thanks OBL, it does all seem to happen  at once, doesn’t it?

That sounds like a plan for the chicken’s area. I bet it will be great for growing x

I can’t sleep tonight. I’m tired but lots whirling round in my head.

All the increases are worrying me a little. I think it’s added roughly another £200 to my monthly bills. Each time I manage to lower one, another comes in but way more than whatever I’ve lowered the other one by.

I’ve evaluated everything and my phone bill is next and that’s not until next April. Everything else has been lowered or out of my control.

My friend dropped off £100 tonight for me for the things he’s bought. I’m going to pay that in tomorrow. That at least covers part of the windscreen. The £150 council tax rebate will cover the rest plus half my house insurance. That leaves me with the other £80 to find. The switching fee will pay for the plumber so overall £80 left to make up of the £481 additional costs I wasn’t expecting this month. I can probably make up another £50 of this by selling some bits next week. That should leave around £30 out of pocket. I think I can live with that having started out the month not expecting so many costs. I’ve not put the £100 back from my savings yet. I knew I’d likely need it but think I will now.

I’ve got my service and MOT coming up too. That’s thankfully next pay day so I’ll be taking it out of that.

  • The increases are worrying, especially when, like me, there’s one income to pay for everything. I’m always impressed by the way you are able to declutter/ sell items / switch accounts and make amazing savings month by month.

    Hope you are feeling better.

Thank you, when it’s just one income though, it’s what I have to do to make sure I make it through the month.

I’m always trying to get cash back which usually pops up at a time I need it most and the bank switching and I always find something to sell!
