    thanks mser's
    the fire safety rules as per multi flats where each floor leads to common exit.
    hopefully this quote happens next year, as it saves 1k from 3k quote earlier this year.
    it does greatly reduce choice of door, though it's my attempt at not trying to avoid these rules.
    seems it's going to be months or years before the rules are altered for smaller buildings.
    i'm top of four floors, so not a tower block as such.

    thinking Admiral are taking door finance lead over others including my bank and building society.
    7.9apr though i'll re check q1 2022 to ensure my door is being built.

    3k over 3 or 4 years including door+wetwalls, repaying 3.6k approx.

    FC30 FC60; will need either the door or frame routed out to accept a smoke/fire seal. Plus a door closer fitted.
    Approx £1k fitted up north

    doubt you can buy a composite fire resistant door for a grand . I bought 3 together at just under 3k and got a big discount from a cheap company who I use often and deal with with over 100k of business per year . You don't need a licence to fit a fire resistant door . You do need to be part of a competent tradesman scheme . The trouble is certass and fensa do not cover installations over 18 meters . (unsure about internal flat doors but there might be sticky ground that needs ironing out before a certificate is issued) . I would advise to get a letterbox fitted by the door manufactures as the certificate for FD30 will cover the whole door . use fire retardant silicone and foam . double seal all inside and out and make sure that the fit is correct before installs . Taking the ribs off and compromising the integrity of the frame will fail in a fire.

    @greenface2

    thanks what you advise matches what I have found eventually.
    1.9k door has some kind of special letter box fitted.

    Hopefully this goes ahead next year.

    Its just a fire resistant letterbox , if you look at screwfix theyre about £25 so not expensive just put in FD30 letterbox . They prevent flames and stop smoke entering through
