Go and look on the funerals and probate forum. It was taking 4-8 months  and longer but many are now granted within 10 days of acknowledgement.
It was only submitted last week so don’t think it will be on there yet
What RAS meant was to look at the probate section on this website...
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/deaths-funerals-probate

Posters there are more likely to have experience of the current timescales than the posters here on the housing forum.
Thank u, sorry I’m new to all of this

I've just had to apply for one and it was processed within a fortnight (online probate application submitted Thursday, will sent to probate office via special delivery the following Monday, received Tuesday, acknowledged by the probate office the following Thursday and application approved a minute later - grant of probate received in post the next Monday.

Hi there. My friend had to wait for probate as the seller of her purchase property died prior to exchange. It took around 16/18 weeks.
The same friend then sadly lost her mother, and probate in this case took about 6 weeks.

Hi. I believe it was online. My friends conveyancer told her there is no way to speed it up and it takes the time it takes, and he estimated 12 weeks, but it went beyond that. The purchase property probate was around November 2020 time when we went back into lockdown and there were around 3 beneficiaries, I don’t know if that makes it more complex.
I remember her telling me her conveyancer was saying it was ‘imminent’ constantly for around 3 weeks, so much so, she stopped taking any notice,  then all of a sudden it was done and she exchanged and completed the same day about a week after probate was sorted out. It was all ready to progress, they were literally just waiting for probate. Good luck.

    How???

I've been going through a house purchase for 6 months now and the probate registry told the sellers solicitors in May they're still dealing with January's backlog! They can't even give me a timeline for when the probate will be granted

The probate is the only thing I'm waiting on to complete this purchase. Mortgage offer is due to expire soon as well...

As I understand it, when they changed the system a lot of the documents that were scanned in had problems; weren't scanned, missing pages, etc.

They are still sorting out the back-log of messed up applications.

More recent applications are scanned, acknowledged and given a quick assessment. Easy peasy applications, executor as expected, no minor beneficiaries, preferably one beneficiary etc are triaged as good to go and get processed in days. Anything that needs further consideration or has bits missing takes a lot longer.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
